Women who seek luxury are usually judged (especially in my community).⠀
⠀
What many don’t understand is, having a little luxury in your life does not only mean buying an expensive bag or a car, it simply means elevating your everyday routine and allowing yourself to experience new things.⠀
⠀
These are the things I indulge in to live luxuriously: ⠀
⠀
- Waking up for “Fajr” the morning prayer (when I do this it centres my entire day)⠀
- Remembering to be optimistic⠀
- Drinking a good quality coffee or tea in the morning⠀
- Freshly laundered “white” bed linen (I only use white bed sheets. 🤣 Truth! This makes me feel like I’m staying in a hotel)⠀
- A cozy night in and my favourite candles lit (this creates an ambiance and luxury scent)⠀
- Reading my favourite magazine or a book⠀
- Occasionally having a cleaning lady to clean my home⠀
- Going for a walk⠀
- Buying myself flowers⠀
- Having at home facials⠀
- Spending quality time with my family⠀
- Curating my favourite luxury items to elevate my high/low attire.⠀

Never be afraid to tell your truth and being vulnerable. At times people see vulnerability as a weakness (specially in my Somali community) and it is far from the truth. I think people who who share their struggles, fears and honest experiences are authentic and change makers.

So on this beautiful warm Hump Day let’s remember to be kind to ourselves and others. 😘😘😘

Btw I have officially put away this dress from @hm it actually was one of my favourite dresses this Summer. I milked the last ounce of use I can get it from this year. 🤣🤣

When I first started wearing the Hijab, I struggled with figuring out my Hijab style. Thought I would miss out wearing all the cool and amazing clothes in the market. That was a decade ago and now I can’t imagine not wearing it and when I see an outfit, first thing that comes to mind is the perfect Hijab in my closet that would complemented.

Currently on my couch nursing a cold. Every sniffle I worry if I have COVID-19. I guess this is our new normal now. BTW I sprayed perfume on my arm and sniffing it every few minutes, just to make sure I still have my sense of smell. 🤣🤣🤣 My paranoia is on a new level now.

Can we talk about my beautiful plants!!!! 💃🏾 It’s only been about four months since planting these beauties and I’m sad to see them slowly die with my favourite season. I truly enjoy taking care of them. I’m known for killing plants, so now to have plants that are striving beautifully, it’s an accomplishment for me on a new level. 👏🏾👏🏾 I’m already thinking about what I want to plant next year! 🤔
