What happens when you infuse puff-puff with hibiscus? 🌺

THIS. 😍

Golden and crispy on the outside, soft, fluffy, and beautifully purple on the inside.

We love experimenting with puff-puff and finding new ways to bring unexpected flavors into something so nostalgic and this one was too good not to share. Thanks to @hibiscusonelm for this excellent test kitchen idea! I’d mixed powdered hibiscus in puff puff several years ago, but this was way, way, way, more delicious!

And because we know somebody is going to ask… yes, we’re sharing the recipe. 😂🌺

EPISODE 3: FAITH OVER FEAR 🤎

Expanding Hibiscus on Elm into the DMV came with its share of unexpected challenges—from arriving to a commercial kitchen that wasn’t ready, to finding another kitchen last minute, to labels peeling off our bottles.

It definitely wasn’t what I planned, but it reminded me that you can adjust the plan without abandoning the vision.

Entrepreneurship will test you. Sometimes you just have to trust God, stay focused, and figure it out.

And I know I’m not the only one who has faced unexpected hardships in business.

Episode 2: Community 🤎

One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned while building Hibiscus on Elm is this:

You can’t dig from a well you never dug.

When I stepped out in faith to build this business, I didn’t do it alone. Every encouraging word, every shared post, every volunteer, every customer, every friend who showed up at an event, helped pack orders, or simply believed in the vision became part of the foundation.

Community isn’t something you wait to have—it’s something you invest in long before you need it.

Looking back, I realize that every relationship I poured into, every opportunity to serve, and every connection I made became a well I could draw from when building Hibiscus on Elm. That’s the power of genuine community.

This journey has never been just about hibiscus. It’s about people. It’s about culture. It’s about showing up for one another.
