‘Floaty Fluffs Funhouse’

Part 1 my new series, ‘Funhouses’.
The story of the Floaty Fluffs Funhouse goes like this..
“Sat a-top some oversized flowers, the fluffy funhouse is hard at work..
A bizarre sight to see, many come to watch. All day and all night the floaty fluffs go round and round the funhouse creature. They float in, then a few minute’s later, they are shot out the chimneys, making a cute ‘toot’ sound. Then off they go, round again.
We don’t really know what happens when within the funhouse, but it must be fun if they keep going back?…“ A3 size pen illustration artwork. Very detailed. With fluffy creatures in stripy trousers going round a house on a long checkered body. The creature is sat on top of flowers, surrounded by insects like butterflies, moths, beetles, worms. Woodland in the background. by @hide.away.holly

‘Curious Caterpillar Funhouse’ 🐛 The 3rd in my series!
~ uni pin fine liner pens in mixed media paper
~ 8 x 10 inches
The story of this strange little scene goes like this…
“After a couple of weeks of munching away, the caterpillars are ready to pupate.. But some of the more rebellious caterpillars want a bit more of life, before the big change.. Curious of what more there is to see, they head over to their local Funhouse. The Curious Caterpillar Funhouse. There, with their little magnifying glasses, they stare at the things they find mysterious.. Pondering over what they could be and what purpose they serve.. Caterpillar imaginations running wild, it becomes quite a sight to see..”

‘Beetle Bounce Funhouse’✨ The 2nd in my new series of drawings, ‘Funhouses’.

The story of the beetle bounce goes like this…
“When the moon is at half crescent, the beetle bounce begins.. Beetles gather from far and wide, to bounce the night away. They meet and greet other beetles, admire the moths in the moonlight, then have a bounce and fly away..”

Creating my creatures are a main focus of my practice, but detail is another. The amount of detail in my work reflects the amount of detail in my brain! Because I’m autistic, i process information ‘detail first’. This can be an issue for me in certain situations, but it’s mostly a blessing. When I’m looking at wildlife, i see the tiny beetle before i see the flower it’s sat on. The detail in my work is almost a subconscious act now. It feels ‘wrong’ when a piece doesn’t have as much detail. It feels less genuine, less connected to me..
So here are some close ups of some of my drawings!
