For most if my life, I’ve been in long-term relationships.
But a couple of years ago, I decided to take a break and be on my own.

I discovered that I actually enjoy my own company & did not need anyone to feel complete or whole.

I started doing things solo but ironically, that attracted a lot of people towards me.

Traveling solo every year to Japan, I’ve met so many people along the way who’ve became close to me till this day.

It’s kind of interesting how that works - be good on your own and you’ll bring in the best people who you don’t have to chase.

I’ve become hyper independent but now, I’m finding the balance of letting others in without losing myself.

We went to the @hausoffusion popup @paikohawaii to hang out and drink some lattes 🍵

This was the first & last time we’ve met.

She moved away to another country shortly after ✈️

This is a story about time. How it is so precious because it is always fleeting. ⏳
When I was visiting Kyoto for a day, Yoko met up with me and we captured these moments.
We visited Arashiyama and Uji together.

The day went by quickly, but it was definitely very memorable. One of my favorite memories because it taught me the value of time and the people who make time to be with you. Even for just a day.

Time is a gift 🎁

Please don’t take time for granted. Especially those who make time to be with you.

Food is just the EXCUSE 🍴💕

I’ve always thought how the best memories I had with people were over some type of meal in an environment that allowed us to connect.

In collaboration with @westman_group I’ve developed this story expressing this thought.

🎆 Fireworks are beautiful because there’s an ending.

I came across this quote explaining that great things are precious because they eventually end.
Like, if fireworks kept going on forever, they’d be the most annoying thing ever right? 🤣

But yeah, been thinking about that in relation to my trips to Japan. How I try to hold on to the moments but I cannot because they eventually end.

At least I made & captured great memories ☺️ and that’s because I have wonderful people always waiting for my return 🇯🇵

You work too much. Take a staycation @hyattregencywaikiki

We did a mini staycation at The Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort and wanted this piece to be about how, as a local, we don’t often stop and appreciate the home that we are living in. It was nice, for once, to play tourist in Waikiki.

From eating at @buffetathyatt , getting some self-care @nahoola_spa , and chillin by the pool @swimathyatt … Felt great experiencing what visitors get to experience!

@naleialohaluau was such a fun time too!

It is a Hawaiian led production through @hawaiiancouncil - It is an all Hawaiian-focused performance, with handmade adornments, and all about hula, lei, tradition, and history. Definitely recommend!

Letting go is quiet 🪶

I’ve been reading this book called “The little book of Letting Go” these past couple of months and thought I’d make a piece communicating what I learned from that book and tie it in with real life experience to give myself resolve while also hoping to make a connection to others out there who needs to feel seen.

I made this resolve intertwined with the concept of what Omakase, in my opinion, represents.

My mind makes weird connections, I know. 🧠

But it’s kind of cool to be able to transform something messy into something…cohesive 🧬 #art

They offer a 21 course and a 19 course Omakase.

Lauren took one for the team and went with the 21-course while I did the 19 (because I messed up and ate lunch that day). 🫃🏾

It’s a cozy, intimate spot. The place is a bit hidden, the entrance is signaled only by an itty bitty lit sign that says “AKI” right next to the gate. 🏮

Honorable mentions include the otoro, chutoro, mushroom chawan mushi, Ikura, there was this one abalone dish that you dip sushi rice in the sauce with after eating the pieces that was SO good, and my favorite was the salted eel nigiri.

Full disclosure: that was CALPICO soda we put in that fancy glass set.

Sometimes, our senses trigger memories 🍶

It could be a flavor. Smells. Definitely sight.
But one in particular, for me, is Ramune 💙

Idk why but the taste of it just sends me back to 🇯🇵
Brings me back to how free I felt when traveling there.

I kinda have a similar thing with a certain laundry detergent smell that brings me back to Thailand lol

I used @hardershawaii ‘s Ramune syrup for a matcha latte and it is so 🔥
All the feels came rushing back 😮‍💨

I’ll experiment more with their syrups 🍵

The imperfect value of a memory 📸

I read in a book that the value of a memory compounds as time passes by. Kind of like investing 📈

I also learned that we inaccurately remember the exact details of an event but it doesn’t lessen the value of that memory. All that matters is that we were there. And we can appreciate the life that we have lived.

Let’s capture more memories so that we can more accurately remember them 🤳🏾

New experiences + good company 🌎

I had the most memorable trip recently visiting Japan and Thailand 🇯🇵🇹🇭

I don’t normally travel with anyone but this time, I was with the boys and it was so much fun!
Recently, I’ve learned that with the right people, you remember the moments more deeply.

I’ve connected with so many amazing people during this trip. Some new and others whom I already have a great relationship with. I am so grateful to have so many wonderful people in my life ☺️🫶🏽

Thank you all who made time to meet me!

There was a moment in Fukuoka where I was watching @seiya__.2005 play his music and even though I was by myself at that time, I felt so much gratitude for being alive and living in that moment. Which is why I wanted to share that exact music he was playing with you all 🎶

I have an amazing life only because you all are a part of it ☘️
Including those of you here who I haven’t met yet 🙏🏾✨
