We went cycling in Taiwan for 2 weeks. We started in the southern tip of Kenting and ended in the northernmost tip, cape Fugui. We documented the whole trip and uploaded it on Youtube as a 16 episode bike touring series. Cycling is fun and we hope to share this feeling with you!

Congratulations to all of us:

Kung hindi ako yung gumagawa ng mga video na to, sino kaya...?

We explored cycling tourism at the National Museum of the Philippines Complex.

We found out that walk-ins are not allowed to park near the building premises of any of the three buildings, and that your only parking is across Fine Arts, far from safety and requires crossing a busy road.

Ours is pre-coordinated; however, we were led towards the other end of the complex, to their allocated parking space, which surprisingly normally allows cars and motorcycles but not bikes despite taking up a smaller footprint. We had to "akay" our bikes under the heat of the noontime sun.

Cyclists aren't allowed to bike at Liwasang Rizal despite its huge distance. Given the time, there were barely any pedestrians that we may have to avoid either. If we biked safely, we could have arrived at the other side in less than 2 minutes. We have been biking for over three hours from Makati to Manila at this point, and we've heard some say "Eto pa yung pinaka nakakapagod sa buong experience ko".

A dozen bikes only took up half a space needed for one car (12.5sqm). This means, twelve people or museum-goers require less space compared to if each of us arrived with one car (approx. 150sqm).

At a very crucial time of Super El Niño and intensifying climate change, we truly need our spaces to embrace more sustainable alternatives, most especially in institutions that best represent our country's heritage.

We are very optimistic that this exploration will lead to a future where our government funds strategically placed, safe bike parking racks at our tourism sites. Where bikers are not only encouraged to do loops on the roads, but also to make a stop and interact with spaces that showcase our nation.

Mother of Gravel

When Taddie was born more than a year ago, I decided to sell a few bikes. One of them was my beloved black Specialized Crux.

It was my modern fast gravel bike—the one I’d bring to fast community rides and races. Honestly, I thought I wouldn’t be able to bike anymore.

I was also anxious about the additional costs that came with being a parent. So I told myself, maybe it’s time to let go of a few things.

Then a year passed.

And what a year it was.

Taddie has been pure joy for me, Ting, and our families. Because of him, our families started gathering more. Somehow, we all just put our past issues aside and focused on creating a loving and happy environment for our firstborn - the first apo.

Of course, it wasn’t always easy. There were challenges. There were days when we were tired, overwhelmed, and just figuring things out as we went.

But the joy this little guy brings us is something else.

It overflows.

And somehow, that joy gives us the strength to keep going.

Looking back, I think I was too quick to think that becoming a dad meant I had to give up biking.

Maybe I just had to learn how to make room for both.

So here I am, slowly finding my way back to cycling.

Still building. Still budoling. Still riding.

Just this time, I have a little guy waiting for me at home. by @higadpating
