∆
In 2023, Küf Knotz & Christine Elise founded a community music therapy outreach performance project called Higher Grounds Music, using the power of music, clinical training, and performance experience to foster personal growth. Working in a strength based model, the workshops/performances are designed to support participants in building skills to build confidence, increase motivation and drive and strengthen self-care skills.

Küf and Christine facilitate workshops and performances for elementary school children all the way to elders in a nursing home setting. Taking a humanistic approach, Kuf Knotz and Christine Elise use music as a medium for audience members to come to their own self-actualization based on participating in the workshops or viewing a live performance. Due to the nature of their positive lyrical content and experience, participants have often commented that each show includes all walks of life, which have lead to unity building and breaking of social stigma. The duo is motivated to make music accessible to all and focus on community outreach in areas in which the arts are limited. This has led them to focus on community oriented opportunities that have support for the area, such as free outside music series. They are on a mission to bring music to places in which creative artists are limited. In addition to the organization’s home-base of Philadelphia, the duo has facilitated in locations such as Alaska, Hawaii, Vermont, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Colorado and Canada (Montreal/Ottawa/Nova Scotia). by @highergroundsmusic

∆ MISSION STATEMENT ∆
Higher Grounds Music is a community-centered organization that uses motivational, classical hip hop to foster community growth. Working in a strength based model, projects, programs and services are offered in various settings, which include schools, after-school programs, community centers, creative spaces, treatment programs and wellness centers. Each experience is designed to create a supportive environment to promote self expression, nurture group cohesion and enrich social emotional growth. We are motivated to make music accessible to all and focus on community outreach in areas in which the arts are limited. taken in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by @highergroundsmusic
