10 of 10 in MAMARONECK, NY!

Mamaroneck is the town where we raised our family, so we known it intimately. As with the prior episode, these aren’t the ONLY choices, and I’m sure I’ll make a few more additions, but I featured some classics for this first version.

📍 @anthonys_deli is an old-school classic, with prices that match the vibe. If you want to feed an army, this is where you come.

📍 @salsmamaroneck is another Mamo institution, and while there’s always a debate about who has the best pizza in Westchester, you can’t deny Sal’s long term popularity.

📍 @waltershotdogs the LONGEST standing institution, and with good reason. IMO they make the best hot dog in America

📍 @augustines_salumeria has not been around nearly as long as the other spots I’ve highlighted, but in short order has gained a reputation as one of the best dinners in Westchester. Recently received recognition from @michelinguide

📍for dessert can’t go wrong with @paleteriafernandez with their wide selection of ice cream and popsicles

Finally, a little ode to my dearly departed mother. The bench at the end of the video has a family dedication for her. So go visit Harbor Island one day and enjoy the beauty of the harbor from her swing (Leslie Trent ♥️) taken in Mamaroneck, New York by @highlowfeast

10 of 10 in Harrison, NY!

Start your day off at @laughinghorsecoffee with top notch, coffee, and pastries. But the main thing is that this is @jalenbrunson1’s spot.

Next up is @casaditaliia , great hero spot and they heat it up reaaaal nice. Love the chicken parm here.

If you’re still hungry, hit up @eatnadas for the best tasting empanadas around.

Finally the move for dinner (but also, frankly, lunch and brunch too) is @cafedeuxx . Everything here is best in class, but the burger is probably their signature item. That said don’t skip out on black-and-white soufflé for dessert because it is outrageous.

Starting a new series “No longer viral…and that’s ok”. Suspect you’ve come to learn that I am not a big fan of viral lines, and love to offer alternative choices in the cities that offer them. That said, sometimes viral lines are viral for a reason, and once the excitement dies down, the product is still worthy. I went to a few places last week to prove this out.

📍@dannyandcoops still brings it. I say the best stand alone cheesesteak in New York and a rival to anything in Philly.

📍@justinssaltbread - last Fall’s viral craze. Things have calmed down considerably here and I think justifiably certainly a good product, but I think the vitality caused the lines and this isn’t something I’d necessarily seek out if I wasn’t in the neighborhood.

📍@imdonut.nyc caused a massive splash last year when these viral donuts came from Japan. Where all the crowds may have died down, but the donuts are still pretty dang good.

Finally a shout out to 📍@vanleeuwenicecream and
📍@winsonbakery two other formal viral crazes that just run their businesses well.

Everyone knows the pizza at @dunwoodiepizza is a top slice in all of 914, but the last time i was there I saw this sandwich and I promised myself I would sample it next time. Well today was next time, and it did NOT disappoint. But, yes, break out the Listerine 😆 taken in Yonkers, New York by @highlowfeast

I believe @graciela.nyc has a rightful claim to the best new NYC restaurant this year. We had an absolutely fantastic meal there. And while the steak alone is enough to compete with almost any other steakhouse in the city, it’s all of the other food that makes Graciela’s special. The apps are all off the charts, the fries are immediately best in class in NY, but the standout home run was the steak Milanesa Napolitana. Truly amazing. Plus PERFECT service Graciela’s is just tops on every level. Can’t wait to return! taken in New York City by @highlowfeast

Had a great time at @eeeeeatscon these guys put in the best food festival in NYC. Hits for the day for me include @sunnysmia @titisnyc @hanisbakerynyc and the @goldendinerny & @banh.anhem collab. 10/10 Port Chester, NY Part 2!

Ok this is the REAL insider, IYKYK type stuff. And it’s all from ONE CORNER, Regent and West street.

First off you’re hitting @jjcassonebakery cash only retail outpost. Great prices and fresh goods, I love this spot.

For lunch, cross the street to @longosparkdeli and have at it, you can get whatever you need here and it’s all top notch.

Finally for dinner hit up @sarujoint for the best rotisserie chicken in the area, especially their verde sauce which is addictive.

I washed it all down with a little @athleticbrewing which is the best non-alcoholic beer bar none. taken in Port Chester, New York by @highlowfeast

Got outta doge for the Nor’Easter and hit the cool city of Winchester, VA. For breakfast we stumbled upon @bonniebluesbbq @bonnieblue_bbq and found a treasure trove. This place was great, had a quality full breakfast and excellent baked goods and cookies. Love finding these kind of gems! taken in Winchester, Virginia by @highlowfeast

10/10 Food Day in the East Village!

Needless to say no shortage your places you should go, but these are four hits that absolutely work.

Started off at @maryosirishsodabreadshop which I just featured in a recent post is absolutely amazing.

Next up @dannyandcoops , this place had a fly flourish last summer because of its owner Bradley Cooper. But it’s a legit Philly cheesesteak, the best in the city.

Next stop is @hanisbakerynyc , another viral sensation, but not as insanely crowded currently. Go anytime it’s definitely one of the best bakeries in all of New York.

Finally @pst.nyc out of Tokyo. Not an easy reservation to snag but if you get one, you’ll be happy, excellent Neapolitan pizzas.

That’s my 10/10 East Village edition. Many more spots so can do several versions of this but played the big hits to start. taken in East Village by @highlowfeast

HYPE CHECK on @mishiessunnyside

Mishie’s is owned by @mich_kogan a local from Sunnyside who is an amazing, Michelin star pastry chef. She’s also very engaging and has been keeping her viral sensation pies neighborhood driven, working out of local farmers markets as she prepares for the opening of her brick and mortar store in a few weeks (you can follow the progress on her IG).

Her pies are as good as advertised I sampled the key lime and raspberry when there, and brought home a banana banoffee which almost took me out. It’s that good.

Cool to see a down to earth, chill person with serious talent doing amazing things and keeping it real and local. Very much pulling for Michelle and Mishie’s to keep growing and succeeding! taken in Sunnyside, Queens by @highlowfeast
