Dave shared his message about using fun and play to support mental well-being, bringing those teachings to life in an energetic way.

There's nothing better than ice cream on a hot summer day. For over 30 years, the Ice Cream FunDae event has helped raised awareness for @pressleyridge, and their critical work in the community. Pressley Ridge serves more than 8,300 kids and families with foster care, residential treatment, and mental health services. Highmark was honored to help support their efforts by being an event sponsor, and our team was happy to serve peach ice cream at the event. More than 3,000 people attended this year! by @highmarkblueshield

Meet Melissa! She’s just one of the 1,600+ Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) students we’ve helped support. Melissa is a social work, psychology and political science major at @slipperyrockuniversity. The Highmark Bright Blue Futures scholarship she received gave her a level of support that sustained her financially. It also helped to provide her with a larger support system, especially in those critical years when coursework gets more advanced. In fact, previous Highmark Bright Blue Futures scholarship recipient Lucian was one of her mentors! 💙⁣

Meet Lucian! He’s just one of the 1,600+ Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) students we’ve helped support. Lucian was a first-generation college student who worked while in college at @slipperyrockuniversity. The Highmark Bright Blue Futures scholarship he received helped him stay in school. By allowing him to pay for classes, the scholarship made it possible for Lucian to keep up with other costs of living, including transportation from school to home and back again. 💙⁣

A buzz-worthy summer blockbuster is sparking conversation, and its theme feels familiar: Kids today are growing up in a world where screens often compete with play. “Kids are meant to move, and when screens take over, that natural movement often disappears,” said Dr. Lakshmi Reddy, senior medical director at @highmarkwholecare. “Over time, that can affect not just physical health, but energy, sleep…even how kids feel and function day to day.” ⁣

So, what does a healthy balance look like? According to Dr. Reddy, “healthy screen use” includes choosing age-appropriate content for kids, making sure kids avoid screens at important times (like bedtime or during meals), having them co-view screens with caregivers like you, and allotting plenty of time for kids to play without screens. 💙⁣ by @highmarkblueshield
