🚨Guest Mix Alert 🚨

We’ve been working on a way that we can highlight some of our favorite artists along with up and coming producers/DJs we feel deserve a spotlight! To begin that journey, we have created a SoundCloud to share some of our own guest mixes from these artists. Give High Note Events a follow on SoundCloud!

We’re super hype to announce that our very first guest mix has landed, courtesy of @lockstock.wav

LOCKSTOCK brings a powerful guest mix to High Note Events, blending deep dubstep and heavy bass with eerie samples from film and television. It’s a dark, immersive journey that pushes cinema into sound system culture.

Big ups to LOCKSTOCK for this mix, the homie crushed it and we hope you enjoy!
———
We’d also like to give a spotlight to Lockstock and share a bit more about his take on the project:

LOCKSTOCK, hailing from Greenville, NC, is an upcoming force in bass music, blending his love for film with old-school dubstep and modern sound design. His cinematic approach creates tracks that fuse storytelling with deep bass and intricate rhythms. Known for raw, fully immersive sets, he manipulates sound with precision, keeping crowds LOCKed into his narrative-of-the-night and experimental layers.

LOCKSTOCK is honored to have had tracks played out nationally by celebrated artists like Canabliss and JustJohn. With a keen ear for detail and a mind that thrives on creative exploration and storytelling, he is establishing himself as a true innovator in the scene. LOCKSTOCK’s show is just getting started, so LOCK in for what’s waiting behind the curtain.

🎭 Did someone say Dubstep in a theater?? 🎭

You heard that right… join us on November 8th at the North Front Theater for a night of Dubstep, Garage, and DnB!

Featuring performances from @jakelov @section.sound @analogfuture.music @torinnicole

As you step through the red curtains, enter the world of modern sound system music in a historical theater setting

There will be standing room on the floor in front of the stage along with plenty of seats in the stands with room to dance. The theater also offers access to two bars, one being an outdoor patio bar with a beautiful view of the Cape Fear River.

A large theater style screen creates the perfect platform for visual artists to display their talent and work their pixelated magic. Our visual artist lineup is to be announced…

@5iproductions will be providing their @hsd_soundsystems speakers and running sound for this show

We’re beyond excited for this show and to share more specific details in the coming weeks. This is going to be a unique one, we’re looking forward to sharing this experience with y’all!

Sound System Spotlight🔊🔊

ArkLight Sound System is a roots-driven sound system founded in 2019. ArkLight represents a deep personal calling rooted in sound system culture and a lifelong passion for building music from the foundation up.

What began as a vision has grown into a true labor of love, built step by step with the hands-on construction of its own sound system boxes. Through years of saving, learning, and building, ArkLight developed a deep understanding of sound from the inside out, shaping both its tone and its philosophy.

Now continuing to expand, ArkLight focuses on original music releases, including vinyl, while bringing together artists, selectors and fellow sound systems. The mission is to unite people through music, strengthen community, and share a positive message rooted in conscious vibration and heavy bass pressure in true Rootsman style.

Beyond the music, ArkLight is deeply personal Skully says—it is where my heart is. My children and wife love this journey as well, and it has become a place that feels like home. I truly love every aspect of it, especially the ability to share, learn, and grow through the process.

It has been a great joy, and I approach it as a lifelong mission with deep humility and gratitude.

Give thanks for life, love, and everyday people

Come experience the sound this Saturday @chowtownilm from 3pm-8pm and @exchangebarbershop_wilmington from 10-till… taken in Wilmington, North Carolina by @highnotehq

🌴 Iration After-Party 🌴

This Saturday, May 23rd, Iration is coming to town and we have partnered up as a local community to keep the vibes flowing!

Starting at 10 PM, we will be at the @exchangebarbershop_wilmington with an eclectic mix of local DJs playing a full range of tunes in the Reggae world. From classic Reggae and Dub sounds to more modern electronic takes on the genre, the selections will curate a perfect night time dance party for any Reggae lover.

Providing sound, we have our friends at @arklight_sound_system bringing their traditional Jamaican styled sound system. This system will provide a genuine Reggae sound system experience; one that’s not only an audio experience, but a physical and spiritual experience as well!

The Exchange Barbershop & Lounge is conveniently located in Downtown Wilmington and is one of the closest bars to Live Oak Bank Pavilion. This space features a full service cocktail bar, an incredible lounge area, and plenty of room to dance!

This is a free event. Donations are accepted and your support is greatly appreciated.

🚨 Guest Mix Alert 🚨

In with a fresh guest mix, SYMETREX linked up with High Note on this one. This mix warms up the ears with vibey selections, as the mix carries on the energy picks up and takes us on a trip to deeper realms. From lush soundscapes and jazzy elements to proper deep wobblers, this mix has it all. Big ups to @symetrex for coming through with a killer mix!

Mix link in bio

About the artist:

Our scene will always need mad scientists like Symetrex, one of those guys who spends countless hours digging for new and better sounds. These efforts consistently yield a unique amalgamation of tribal rhythms, lush atmospheres, and constant low end pressure. Like any good scientist, Symetrex is equally aware of the intricacies of the musical process and the necessity to disregard them as boundaries.

Following these guidelines (or lack thereof) for more than nineteen years landed him a dj residency at Threshold and Dubbage, two of the longest running jungle and dubstep shows in Connecticut. There, the crowd’s response pushed him to delve deeper into crafting his own tracks, and to further sharpen his skills as a dj. Now residing in NC he continues to do just that.

As an artist’s work is never done, these days you’ll find Symetrex still digging, still experimenting, and still searching for progressive combinations of dubstep, drum and bass, wave and god knows what else to devise a rare and entrancing sonic journey.

SYMETREX has shared the stage and opened up for - Chef boyarbeats, Mythm, Zed’s Dead, G Rex, Ak 1200, Dara, Joe Nice, Megalodon and many more.
