For the last 9 months we have been building a world class music recording studio on the ranch inspired by a request from @shaboozys visit last fall to one day write/record at the @hightailranch. The studio design was inspired by the famous Shangri La studio in Malibu (which Bob Dylan + the band opened 50 years ago), but with our personal touch. Before running final tests, I had to make a decision on who the first person to record in the studio would be. You only get one first. That person was my mom, a home piano teacher and player for more than half a century. I asked her to play only one song - she chose “My Heart at thy Sweet Voice.” It was the same song she played for her father over the phone as he was passing. I am so grateful to have such an incredible mother who inspired a childhood of music, bison and adventure. Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers out there 🥂 taken in The Hightail by @hightailranch

Mission Accomplished. 🤠 About 4 hours of riding the rugged hills and mountain sides rounding up the bison to get them all corralled to be tagged. This is a mission that takes everyone working together. Knowing when to hold position, knowing when to push or hold back, furious chases after they decide to break away or go through fences. It’s is such a thrill but oh so rewarding in the end. And it couldn’t have ended more perfectly just as the sun was setting.

Such an honor to be apart of this tradition at @hightailranch . Because it takes a freaking village. And I love that I’m apart of this village. ❤️ by @hightailranch

It’s fall on the ranch, dry grass, cold evenings, thick coats on the bison.

One week from roundup. Honing bikes, corrals, bison, gear, courage. If we cared about sports, this would be our Super Bowl. taken in The Hightail by @hightailranch
