people and a dog, gordon parks exhibition, london 2026.

gordon parks, a prominent vessel, gave future souls insight into segregated america, exposing the racially authoritarian regime imposed on black people.

the 40s, 50s, 60s (you can go on) were deeply hostile, violent even, to breathe in the same air as those who were white.

many years later, here, his works exhibit inside a building in london. around the same time as some of these photographs were taken, black people living here (amongst others) were prohibited from entering establishments, particularly residential buildings.

through my lens, i’ve captured a life the majority of those who were heavily oppressed would have never got to see. these walks of life pose as new subjects in the new world, and catalysts to this moment of the past colliding with the present. by @hiidothings

i really miss my home, carpenters estate, 2026 *SWIPE*

i used to live on the 15th floor in james riley point. one of my favourite memories was nearing the end of the year, anticipating the fireworks for halloween, bonfire night, diwali and the respective new years celebrations.

seeing this high up cemented a richness of living above the city, watching celebrations colour stratford + neighbouring hoods.

the homes below couldn’t see the wealth in this sight, wealth from an aging tower block with our regular rodent tenants and leaking ceilings.

there’s a smell i won’t forget. i loved that cupboard. i visited it daily just to take in its scent, not to take anything from it.

since i wasn’t allowed outside like my siblings, i spent most of my day inside, curiously finding new things in the same environment.

i can’t explain what it smelled like, i can only remember it being an important part of my day.

i really miss my home, carpenters estate, 2026.

we pass people all the time, going somewhere. we take buses, trains, ubers, boats, bikes. maybe today we chose to walk from one borough to another just cause we felt like it.

how far can she go?

i wonder if they can see her - the city dwellers. she exists somewhere between being seen and being invisible in one of the busiest areas in london. all going somewhere. where is she going? by @hiidothings
