We’re nearly sold out for this weekend—only 5 tickets remain for Sunday. We’re so grateful for this support and the joy it brings us.

Since some of you have limited availability and want to attend, we’re asking for community coordination to make that possible.

**If you have a ticket and can’t come:**
Email staff@redeyetheater.org to let us know. You can request a refund or help with assigning your ticket to someone else—both help. Please give us as much notice as you can.

**THERE IS NO LATE SEATING**
We will be holding the house slightly to accommodate for this however, once the performance begins, we cannot grant access to latecomers.

**Plan to arrive early:**
Parking fills quickly in Seward. There’s also construction on Cedar Ave and 26th St, so add extra time for your commute. At 7:35pm we offer unclaimed seats in the house to those on the wait list.

**Wait list on the day of:**
We’ll start a 6-person wait list at 6:45pm at the Box Office, first come first serve, in-person only. PLEASE ONLY WAITLIST YOURSELF. This is based on our historical range of 1-6 no-shows for our performances. We may increase the waitlist starting Friday, September 18th based on performer and audience space needs from our experience on opening night.
- At 7:30pm: We release any tickets from advance cancellations.
- At 7:35pm: Any unclaimed seats go to the wait list.

It’s opening night!

As we get ready to premiere HIJACK’s APARTMENT we want to, in particular, shout out MARY OCHER. @mary_ocher
We have been fans of this Berlin-based musician for a long time.
Our dance is performed to Mary’s 2026 album “Weimar” played through twice.

Thank you to Mary Ocher for the generous sharing of her music, for saying “yes” to two fangirl strangers writing a letter. For the conversation as we three together navigated what that sharing means. And for the constant inspiration as we listen over and over.

@mary_ocher is brilliant. We highly recommend her albums, videos, live shows (let’s bring her back to Minneapolis!!!!)

HIJACK’s IMPROVISATION/COMPOSITION class has been running every Wednesday for over 25 years.

The next class will be:
Wednesday, September 16. 9:30-11:00am. class will be on in person at Zenon (528 Hennepin Ave. 4th Floor) in Minneapolis.

Then, the rest of the Fall Session continues:

Wednesday, September 23. 9:30-11:00am, class will be on zoom.
Wednesday, September 30. 9:30-11:00am, class will be in person at Zenon.
Wednesday, October 7. 9:30-11:00am, class will be on zoom.

We will continue weekly on Wednesday mornings, alternating between in-person and on zoom……forever.

DESCRIPTION OF IMPROVISATION/COMPOSITION:

The frame is the screen or the room or your eyes. Let’s exercise our imaginations, hamstrings, eyeballs. Somatics, composition, calisthenics, appreciation. Let’s look each other in the eyes. Swaying between warming-up and performance, between napping and sweating, between being and seeing figure/ground. Improvisation alongside some not-improvisation. It is often political to move and act and choose.

HIJACK has taken up living in Red Eye. The skyline is our view. We shove the furniture aside to make room for a swirl, a twirl and some kind of kick-of-the-leg.

How do you live these days anyway? We are experimenting in animal husbandry. We are cosplaying Lady Liberty but she is melting and trashy in an 1980s way. We tumble and flow, we dig in our heels, accumulate, decay.

We are just trying to listen authentically to the walls. To each other. We are the walls. We will show you the secret doily, our secret guts spilled out across the floor. Actually.
Who knows what will happen. Improvisation is our only hope for survival. We are trying to bring one thing into a sensible relationship with another (*).

While we made this dance in Minneapolis, in Berlin, Mary Ocher made the album “Weimar”. We loved it and asked if it could come to the party. She said yes.

Liquid vertebral dance math: two people, three goats, eight songs played twice, three narratives, one album, two shoes, one dance, zero mustaches, and you. You are invited in, to two people alone and together and together with you and the imprints of our downtowns and the memories of old Red Eyes and the ghosts of a party.

Since last summer, we two have been lurking the halls and bouncing between the studios at the Hennepin Center for the Arts in Downtown Minneapolis. Just us two and music and studio detritus and the ghosts of many kinds of DANCE.
