Reflective moments in the Canyon

Fish River Canyon is the largest in Africa, and one of the largest in the World.

It is 160km long and 27km wide, so it's depth is about 500m deep. Distance to hike through the Canyon is between 75 to 85km that can be done In 5 to 6 days or even less.

This Canyon is formed by the Fish River, that comes from East Naukluft Mountains, flows from North to South.

Canyons are usually caused by river that flows through it, movements of earth crust and weathering factors.

So combination of geographical components that may be caused as a result of just a cracked on the planet surface, slopes and some are just flat bottom in their complexity.
Flat surface of a plateau gradually penetrate deeper and deeper.

We experienced a full moon 🌝 upon the completion of the descent into the Canyon on our first night. This presented time for meditation and reflection...as we explore the Canyon deeper in the later days, so as the appearance of the moon in the later hours.

My heart shuttered when I forgot my other Orange cup last November in Lesotho!

This image is taken from the Hut in Dassiehoek, overlooking Arangieskop aka The Kilimanjaro of the Cape.

This 2 day overnight hike with a total of 21km loop.
The Summit point elevation is approximately 1696 above the sea level.

Day1 is about 9.5km very steep ascent, this can easily take you 6-8 hours depending on the level of fitness of the hikers!

Dassiehoek is located at Robertson, which is almost 2 hours drive outside Cape Town.
