This is why we build with the house not against it. Drawings are great but there is nothing like spending a little extra time getting to know what it already has to offer & working with it. I will never tire of how the light reflects on this wall & present glassware.

Mood lifting that one size fits all could never 🖤

Brutalist coffee table of dreams is now live 🖤

Karl Springer, USA circa 1981

Measuring an impressive 151 X 151cm this large-scale coffee table was designed by Karl Springer in the 1980s, showcasing his glamorous, sculptural approach to late 20th century modern design.

Noted as an unusually large example, it offers strong visual presence while remaining elegant and airy thanks to the transparent top suspended on gloriously weighty stone legs.

Springer’s quest for high quality imbued his work with an unrivaled sense of scale and proportion, and his attention to detail and devotion to uncompromising craftsmanship won him respect throughout the design industry. His work was sought out by the best designers of the two decades to follow, finding its way into the homes of, among others, Jackie Onassis, Diana Ross, and Frank Sinatra. By the 1970s he had opened a large showroom in New York City; galleries in Miami, Los Angeles and Tokyo were to follow.

A true hero piece 🖤

Qing Dynasty Elmwood Coffee Table With Open Fretwork And Horse Hoof Legs, China Circa 1912 🖤

With its intricate craftsmanship and light honey-toned finish, this Chinese elmwood coffee table brings refined detail and architectural elegance. The rectangular (presents as square) top is constructed from two framed panels of open fretwork, each carefully carved to allow light and shadow to play across its surface. While visually light, the table’s structure is solid and thoughtfully balanced, with every line contributing to its overall harmony. A custom glass top could be added for everyday functionality though stacking of trays would be a chic option.
The apron is beautifully adorned on all four sides with linear scrolled spandrels—stylized ruyi motifs that reference traditional Chinese decorative language.

Superb layered among more eclectic elements, this piece offers texture, craftsmanship, and a connection to centuries-old design traditions.
