Hillam Architects is honoured to have received formal endorsement of its inaugural Reflect RAP from Reconciliation Australia (@reconciliationaus).

This document marks the official beginning of our engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, knowledge, and leadership as we learn about designing on, and for, Country.

This milestone has been marked with a joint statement from our leadership, David Hillam (@davidnhillam, Founder and Design Director) and Brett Davis (CEO).

“As leaders of the practice, we are proud to jointly support Hillam’s Reconciliation Action Plan. It represents our shared commitment to listening, learning and building meaningful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples—particularly the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation, on whose Country we live and work.

"This RAP is an important step in Hillam’s ongoing reconciliation journey. We understand that we will not have all the answers, but we are committed to approaching this work with openness, respect and a willingness to learn.

"Together, we look forward to turning these commitments into meaningful and lasting change—within our practice, through our projects and across the communities we serve.”

Hillam Architects Reconciliation Action Plan: Reflect has been developed by our RAP Working Group, including Camille Ricciardi, Raya Sargeant, Marco da Trindade and Yolande Duckitt, led by RAP Champion and Senior Associate Alicia Abbott. The Working Group would also like to acknowledge the contribution of previous members.

We thank Reconciliation Australia for their guidance in this process, and the remarks of their CEO, Karen Mundine:

“This Reflect RAP enables Hillam Architects to deepen its understanding of its sphere of influence and the unique contribution it can make to lead progress across the five dimensions. Getting these first steps right will ensure the sustainability of future RAPs and reconciliation initiatives, and provide meaningful impact toward Australia’s reconciliation journey.”

Hillam Architects is pleased to announce the successful development approval of Human Urban’s Ferguson Lane Project.

The opportunity to design a foundational building in the broader redevelopment of the Hollywood Village site has been exciting, particularly in terms of the interface and interaction with the public space and parklands planned opposite.

The inclusion of an outdoor yoga space and alfresco barbecue area strengthens this connection to the public realm.

We appreciate the unanimous support of the Metro Inner North Development Assessment Panel for our client, Human Urban.
