Before any of you tell me off 🙃 I did wear a proper respirator mask for the majority of this project. The times where I did ‘little bits’ and thought it would be ok I regretted it!

1) Good protective gear even for hand sanding or heating small areas of paint with the paint gun. Those disposable masks don’t cut it.

2) Scrape all different parts to make sure your wood matches enough and that you don’t have hidden MDF or anything that will make you re-evaluate staining BEFORE you waste hours - trust me this is a long process.

3) Kling-Strip is amazing. Lay it on THICK and if you are left with patchy bits of paint and bare wood even after cleaning, don’t try another application as the bare bits get ruined!

3) Get a good heat gun, and keep it moving - scorch marks happen quickly

4) Get a scraper tool with interchangeable blades

I’ll share more in the next video but let me know if you have any more questions 💖

If only it was as easy as I’ve made it look here 🥵
The good news is, if you are planning to try this yourself I can share with you what worked well, and mistakes I made along the way so that you have an easier time of it.
Stubborn people only, and be prepared for a lot of mess and boredom.

I still have a bit to do before they are ‘finished’ but I am very relieved to be at this stage.

It’s quite the transformation don’t you think? by @hillside_view_house

It’s a bit of a pain not having curtains in my room at the moment, but waking up to see stars, snow, sun-rays and even rain has been beautiful!
With it being Dìdi’s first snow I couldn’t help but throw open the sash for him to perch on his favourite spot and take it in.
Mei Mei in her old age has seen it many a time so watched it from bed.

This fire surround was heavy, but nowhere near as bad as I thought.
The amount of times I’ve benefitted from strength I’ve built in the past and retained somewhat; especially with moving & jobs around the house is absolutely priceless.

Also, the strength of a stubborn woman who doesn’t want to wait for help to rearrange furniture on a whim is supernatural don’t you think? by @hillside_view_house

FINALLY! I now have central heating in the front half of my house after a very chilly winter without, and a year of ‘have you got heating yet???’ You can ask me something else now 😂
( Pipes to be sprayed black at some point because I like to cause myself stress )
Radiators from @vintage_cast_iron_radiators - AMAZING service, which really counts when you don’t have a clue what you are doing 🙃

STUNNING fire surround darling, I wouldn’t have got it if it weren’t for the nearest and dearest in my life sending me the links for things I need, and those helping me to collect such items in their truck ( thanks @leechapman04 for braving the torrential rain, Swansea traffic but worst of all my bad directions last minute )
@homereno155 - such lovely people helping to get it fixed to the roof of the truck. Their project looks amazing already, so excited to see it evolve ! 🏡🔨

It’s nice to sit back & appreciate all the work that’s gone into this so far, and have the mind space to plan what to focus on next.
So excited for the results, it’s what keeps me going 💖

The goats returned to help me out while I continue to work on the house. Lovely company for a coffee break & the jungle is tamed … for now …
I’m hoping to get some wildflowers growing in it for the bees until I can landscape but we’ll see what happens !
Thanks again @rumination_ltd 🐐💚

My first attempt at restoring original Victorian floorboards. Funny how I thought I’d sand these in one day 😂 I did NOT factor the depth of the bitumen or B*TCH-umen as it shall now be known, and the difficulty to sink the cut clasp nails below the level of this. Anyway, much graft later here is a summary:
1. Before
2. Optimistic Expensive Equipment hire
3&4. Inspo photos I found probably on Pinterest
5&6. Hours in questioning levels of delulu and coughing up tar while squeezing dust out of my pores
7. The tool I purchased that gave me back hope, control@& sanity
8. Filling gaps with brown squishy stuff ( don’t use PVA and glue, listen to experts like @danny_sandhouse - and yes I would have hired him by this point if he wasn’t so far away )
9. The holes I was left with from damage where the boards had been lifted for rewire
10. So proud of my first attempt to repair these and now the cellar zombies can’t get me
11, 12&13. The result - perfectly imperfect. It’s not ‘professional’ but it’s my graft and I love it. 1 step closer to my radiators being plumbed in and functional for the coming winter !!!
Would you attempt your own floorboard restoration and if you have how did you find it?

Id like to know; have you ever managed to use one of these or even a drill without pretending to be an action hero? And if you have how did you get to be so mature?

Gradually progressing on the house around work and everything else, but seeing it start to come together is really exciting!
Almost ready to attempt to do something with the wooden floors then I can finally get the infamous radiators plumbed in ready for summer wahoo! 😂
