Visited the @csmvsmumbai on #NationalHandloomDay Indian Textiles and Costume Gallery Stories woven in time. Wall hanging depicting Rath Yatra celebrated in Puri, Odisha, done in Kantha embroidery. Time stopped at 8.46 AM on 26th Jan, 2001, as Gujarat was hit by an earthquake amidst Republic Day celebrations, killing over 20,000 people. The destruction shattered generations of heritage, nearly erasing the artisanal mastery of the region within seconds. This wall hanging shows how the craftsmanship fought back.
