Darjeeling soul in Berlin, bringing Himalayan small-farmer teas to Europe.
Sharing stories, people and land behind the cup.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Darjeeling is called the Champagne of teas, but the two protect their farmers very differently. In Champagne, being from the region is enough to earn the name. In Darjeeling, that right sits with a list of old estates, so the independent farmers I work with, who are from those very hills, can’t put their home’s name on what they grow. That’s why I renamed this Himali Cup, Himali meaning - „of the Himalayas“ in my mother tongue. Nothing about the tea or the people behind it has changed, only the name has, and this time it belongs to us.

Himali Cup has been invited as the special guest at the Afternoon Tea in the Ermelerhaus on Saturday, 24 October.

The Ermelerhaus is one of Berlin’s outstanding examples of Baroque and Classicist architecture, and it sits right next to the art’otel berlin mitte.
I’m bringing three micro-batch oolongs from the Darjeeling hills, Himalayan Beauty, Rare Red Oolong and Rosé Musk Oolong, and you’ll be able to taste them on the day.

The afternoon starts with a welcome drink, followed by a selection of 22 fine teas with freshly baked scones, fine sandwiches and homemade patisserie.

I’ll be there from 13:00 to 16:00 to share the stories behind the teas and the people who make them back home ♄

For reservations, you can write to ehermotrinanes@artotelsgermany.com or call +49 173 3429 774. I hope to see some familiar faces there đŸ” taken in Ermelerhaus by @himali.cup

Still recovering from the beautiful madness of our very first Vienna Tea Festival! đŸ”

So many meaningful conversations with both passionate tea drinkers and exhibitors. Seeing your appreciation for our teas and the stories behind them was deeply humbling.

Huge gratitude to the organizers and the wonderful volunteers for creating such a seamless, beautiful event and taking such sweet care of all of us behind the scenes.

Now safely back home, still soaking in the inspiration (and brewing through all the extraordinary teas we brought back from fellow exhibitors).

Thank you, Vienna! taken in Reaktor by @himali.cup

Why women tea workers in Darjeeling are still called “unskilled”, and paid the least.

Nearly 60% of the people who pick Darjeeling tea are women. They do the same plucking as the men beside them, on the same bushes, into the same baskets. But the work is labelled “basic” instead of “skilled,” and it earns some of the lowest industrial wages in the country.

It has a name: gendered skill. The exact same task counts as skilled when a man does it, and basic when a woman does it. The wage follows the label, not the work.

These are the women who keep one of the world’s most famous teas alive. They’re also the least likely to be in the room when anything about it gets decided.

They carry the industry. They’ve just never been paid, or seen, like they do.

Himalayan Beauty Oolong - A single cultivar bug bitten oolong from an altitude of around 1700m.

Imagine biting into a soft slice of muskmelon.
You expect intense sweetness, but what you taste is actually very smooth and balanced.

Just as the fruit settles, an unexpected hit of candied citrus cuts through, finishing with a bright, zesty lift. Your mouth is left feeling creamy, vibrant, and completely coated in sweet orange taste.
The breath you breathe out after that sip, is warm, spiced, and fragrant.

That is this tea from start to finish. by @himali.cup

Look closely at those tiny, floating golden threads.

We just noticed these beautiful trichomes on our latest summer batch of Rare Red Oolong, and it proves how incredibly rare and high-quality this batch truly is!

If you haven’t heard of them before, trichomes are the tiny, natural fuzz-hairs found on the youngest, most delicate tea buds to protect them from the elements.

Traditionally, oolongs are made from older, mature leaves that have already lost this fuzz.
But because this unique red oolong is crafted using only premium, tender spring growth, it retains these delicate hairs, which oxidize into a gorgeous amber “tea snow” that you can directly see for yourself floating in the cup.
They are packed with essential oils and amino acids, which is exactly why this rare steep has such an ultra-smooth, velvety texture and deep sweetness.

Pour a glass, catch it in the light, and see the mark of true craftsmanship! by @himali.cup

#6 HIMALI CUP (former DARJEELING CUP)

„For us, „One sip, a thousand stories“ isn’t a metaphor; it is our structural reality.
I founded Darjeeling Cup to look beyond the corporate labels of traditional tea tins and honor the true artisans of my hometown in the Himalayan foothills. Today’s industry is dominated by a colonial-era plantation system in which workers earn less than three euros a day, and international trademark laws shut out independent growers from using their own regional names. By bypassing this system, we partner exclusively with independent smallholder farmers who treat tea as a fine art.

When you taste our seasonal flushes, you are tasting a specific mountain terroir, a preserved heritage, and a fair economic future for independent family gardens. Every cup tells a story of resistance and craft, and we cannot wait to share these stories with you in Vienna.“

We are very happy to welcome @himali.cup to the 2026 Edition of the Vienna Tea Festival.

A little corner of home, somewhere new.

So happy to share that our Himalayan teas have found a cozy spot on the shelves at @qiyunspace !

If you’re ever in the neighborhood, it’s such a lovely space to spend some quiet time and sit with a warm cup in a lovely space.

So lovely to share a shelf with people whose space we admire so much.

Can’t wait for you to spot us there! by @himali.cup

Cieszyn and Poznań Tea Festivals left a heartwarming impression on all of us.

This year marked Himali Cup’s first time at a Polish tea festivals and with XianCha Tea’s support, who have been attending the festivals for years now, we had a great experience!

For us at Himali Cup, we were happy to see that people were curious, tried teas they had never had before, came back for more, and even stayed for the workshops😃.

For us at XianCha Tea, we were extremely happy to see many familiar faces (and stickers on their phones and suitcases😉) and invite new people to our stall for a cup of tea.

Both events made us feel the warmth and passion of Poland’s tea community.
A warm thank you goes to everyone who stopped by to chat, the exhibitors who shared their tea and stories, and the organizers and volunteers who kept everything running smoothly.

Poland made a great host, and there is no doubt we’ll be coming back next year! by @himali.cup
