𝐋𝐨𝐭. πŸ”πŸπŸ– π“π‘πž 𝐆𝐫𝐒𝐳𝐳π₯𝐲 The Grizzly belongs to a brief and rather unusual chapter in American outerwear history. Popular during the 1930s, these jackets combined leather with mouton across the body, giving warmth without the bulk of fur through the sleeves. Short proportions, belted waists and generous fur collars became signatures of the style. Albert Richard was among the American makers producing them during the period, including the Wildcat pictured in this 1937 advertisement. By the following decade, the style had largely disappeared. That obscurity is exactly why I wanted a Grizzly in the R. West collection - I’ve always been drawn to the stranger (a bit whacky, let’s be honest), less familiar corners of pre-war American clothing. Red Wing London Community x Sam Redman and the 8111 Iron Ranger. β€˜I wanted a pair of Red Wing boots for about 12 years before finally buying a pair. It wasn’t until this past December that I got a bonus at work and finally decided I was going to treat myself to a pair. Being able to go into the store and get my feet measured and speak to the guys about sizing was so good and definitely helped me pull the trigger on buying a pair. Needless to say the boots didn’t disappoint and I wear that at any given opportunity! I love that the guys in the shop are passionate and knowledgeable about the brand and so able to give well informed advice.
