Supreme Dance are delighted to announce a sponsorship/partnership with HIPAed - the standout alternative educational provision for exceptionally talented students pursuing careers in performing arts. The students at HIPAed follow a flexi-schooling model, attending mainstream school three/four days a week and receiving focused artistic training one/two days per week.
Supreme Dance and HIPAed share a passion for providing a safe place for young people to train and perform, with access to industry excellence and professionalism. In working together, Supreme Claire and HIPAed Beth are looking forward to leading by example in providing the best example of being part of a FABULOUS part time dance training provision and the best example of attending a FABULOUS competitive dance event.

We are beyond excited to announce the incredible Mr Sam Salter as the new patron of HIPA ED! 🤩

Sam’s career speaks for itself, with credits including Matthew Bourne’s “Swan Lake”, “Mary Poppins”, “Wicked”, “On the Town”, and “West Side Story”—just to name a few!

I had the privilege of teaching Sam at the Sylvia Young Theatre School early in my teaching career, and he is without a doubt the reason that I fell in love with teaching. His passion, dedication, and work ethic embody everything we strive to instill in our students, which is why he’s the perfect fit for this role.

We can’t wait to see Sam inspire and work with our students, and we are so grateful for his support! 🙌✨

LO SIENTO 🤍

Another duet from DWC I’m really proud of, danced by the wonderful @jaxfenner & @hattie_performer who were just gorgeous together! 😍😍

They placed 6th with 91 points- another fantastic score that would have medalled in the other half of the section and I’m just overjoyed with the performance they gave! Particularly as they were some of the youngest competitors ✨

Proud of you both- thank you for bringing this to life beautifully and being a joy to teach and work with 🫶🏼

Today at HIPA Essex we open our second studio, and there is no one more fitting to dedicate it to than my very first dance teacher, Julie Burgin, who we sadly lost almost four years ago to dementia…

Some of you may know the story of how I first fell in love with performing. As a child, I was completely obsessed with musicals, especially Mary Poppins. At four years old I confidently launched myself off the top of the stairs with an umbrella, convinced I could fly.

Shortly after, my dad bumped into a girl he had grown up with and asked what she was doing these days. She told him she was running a dance school. He handed me over almost immediately, probably hoping someone could channel my wildly overactive imagination.

That someone was Miss Julie.

She was my idol. As so many of us know, a dance teacher is so much more than a dance teacher. Julie was kind, nurturing, endlessly encouraging, and believed in me long before I believed in myself. She gave me the confidence to chase my dreams and stood behind me every step of the way.

Even after I left home for the Sylvia Young Theatre School, we never lost touch. Every weekend I came home, she continued to teach me. As I grew older, our teacher student relationship became a wonderful friendship.

All I ever wanted to do was choreograph and create. That probably won’t surprise anyone now, considering it’s what I seem to do even in my sleep! But Miss Julie never dismissed those ideas. Instead, she encouraged them. From as young as nine years old, she gave me the freedom to create my own choreography and supported me in taking it to competitions. She saw something in me before I could see it myself.

Julie was taken from this world far too soon by such a cruel disease. I know she must have changed the lives of hundreds of children, just as she changed mine. I will be forever grateful for her belief, her kindness and her unwavering support. Without her, I truly don’t think I would be fortunate enough to spend every day doing what I love.

So today, with a very full heart, we open The Julie Burgin Studio.

I hope you’re dancing up there, Miss J. I hope you’re proud 😇
