This summer we began hosting a jazz jam session at local brewery @saltywalrusbrewing on the 1st Sunday of the month. It’s been awesome!!! Here are some shots and a few videos from our first session this past summer.

We’ve had two additional sessions since, so keep an eye out for another couple albums highlighting the rad jazz performers of Tulare County. 📸

Our next session will be Sunday October 4th at 1pm. If you know how to play a jazz standard or two, bring your instrument and come hang with us! If you’re into cool music, great food, and excellent beer but don’t play an instrument: come hang anyway!!!

I have good news everyone! It’s been four weeks to the day since I had a laparoscopic right colectomy to remove a cancerous mass found in my large intestine and after my most recent appointment with the surgeon I learned that what was initially diagnosed as stage 3b invasive adenocarcinoma was determined to be stage 2a after reviewing the pathology report! It was explained to me that presently I have no high risk features and the cancer has not spread. It seems I most likely will not need chemo or radiation however this will ultimately be determined when I meet with the oncologist in a couple of weeks. I want to thank you all for your love, thoughts, prayers and donations. I consider myself blessed to know you all, that I should be in the company of such kind and generous people is an honor and privilege. I can’t wait to get back to teaching and playing music soon- Chris by @hismexcelency

Today we laid my grandmother to rest. She was an amazing woman who raised children of good character who in turn raised more children bearing such qualities. She instilled hard work ethic and gave all the love her life could give. When I look at all of my aunts uncles and cousins I see her in all of us, for she taught us all how to really love and care for one another. 101 years she was here on this earth and we all count ourselves truly blessed to have had so much time with her. Love you Amá, you are missed by @hismexcelency

Friends! We need your help! Our amazing music teacher Chris Casarez was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer. He was admitted into surgery this past weekend, it was successful and he is now at home recovering. ❤️‍🩹

Many of you have asked how you can help him during this time and while there are many ways to show your love and appreciation for him, we decided a resource funding platform would be an accessible way for everyone to help. Please consider donating to our friend spread the word ❤️

As of Friday July 3rd I was diagnosed with cancer. I’ve made it a point to personally call as many people as I could that have been part of my life over the years. I thank you all for the thoughts, prayers, vibes and emotional support I’ve received and will receive. If you message and I do not respond immediately I’m most likely going to be in recovery from treatment. You’re all amazing human beings. I’m gonna live. I’m gonna make more music.
