New job, what?!

Sometimes one is stubbornly certain that she knows what she wants, confident that her plan for the future is following her well mapped path.

Sometimes that b is wrooong…

I’ve left the freestyle, freelance, entrepreneurial life behind (for now) to take a dream job. A job where I get to work with a group of people I’ve loved working with in different capacities for years. A job where I get to have a part in shaping bars, bar programs, bartenders and a whole lot of other stuff that has to do with the word bar- in a way that can have a lasting impact on my little corner of this boozy industry that I love so much. And all while traveling extensively in the U.S. and abroad.

I’m humbled to announce that, as of today, you can call me Beverage Program Director & Trainer, IHG Luxury, Lifestyle and Managed!

Thank you @imiagency, @ihghotels , and especially @winechatwithkat for this incredible opportunity. And thank you to the mentors, bada** bartenders, and community of food and beverage professionals that have lifted me up over and over. I’m honestly not sure how that 19 year old girl who didn’t know anything more than bartenders were cool decades ago got so lucky, but here we are.

Downtown Los Angeles No King protest 6.15.2025.

I had a video up from the end of the day when the teargas started flying that was getting lots of attention. Many more people than just my small group of followers were watching it and it was attracting some vitriol. The face of another woman was clearly visible in that video and given the unexpected attention it was receiving I didn’t think it was fair to have it up without her consent. This is how I’m replacing it. Images from the many hours of peaceful protesting that occurred before things got weird at the end of the day.

This isn’t where the crowds of protesters are. But this building is what it’s all about. The ICE detention center, and the driveway here is where the vans come in and out. The police have given dispersement orders and are tightening in. by @historicallydrinking

October 27, 2022… Two years ago today! Still at the beginning of our year long trip in Vangoni. Lake Mead was hard to get to (we may have messed up one of our axles 😅), but it was so cool once we arrived! Wild burro, coyotes on the edge of camp, great hiking, hardly anyone around.
