Just finished up my first summer season with the ESO, what a great crowd this last weekend. Got to break in my new Zildjians with a great section and an even greater orchestra!

Thanks to @llllvi and @gellerchloe for the killer pics!

What a great way to start off my first full season as principal percussion! Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf is probably one of my favourite pieces of all time. Working with my predecessor's gorgeous 5x14 Lang/Gladstone and a nice vintage A suspended cymbal.

Its 13hrs into 2023 and 2022 was a blast.

1. Seeing the LA Phil for the first time!
2. Seeing the Chicago Symphony for the first time (and all that fun audition stuff)
4. Playing my first Mahler symphony at @mahlerfestcolorado (can't wait for Mahler 2 😉)
5. My first performance as a timpanist for the ESO on Tosca (which was critically acclaimed 👀)
6. And then closing out the year with hella parties and hella concerts back at home with the ESO. (📷: @jacob.kryger, back on stage together after 2.5years)

Can't complain about very much in 2022, can't wait to see what's next. 🎉🍾🍻 by @hit_it.exe

In case I didn't tell anyone, I recently had the privilege of playing as assistant timpanist for @mahlerfestcolorado's 35th season, where we performed the US premiere of the newest critical edition of Mahler 3, the first public performance of Christopher Gunning's 10th Symphony, as well as world premieres of chamber orchestra arrangements old Hollywood scores and Bartok's Bluebeard's Castle.

I am so grateful for the experience of playing with such a high quality orchestra, and to think this was a collection of volunteers joining together to make beautiful music is moving and has inspired me to once again, put the pedal to the metal.

Thank you Michael Baker for submitting me forward, as well as Maestro Woods and the Colorado MahlerFest's administrative team for committing to an awe-inspiring festival every year. A special thank you to our hostess, JoAn, who, at the age of 91, took Jacob and I in, fed us, and told us the most lovely stories. And I cannot say enough about my newfound friends in the percussion section, I hope we play and wreak havoc on the streets of Boulder again. 🎻🥁🎶❤️🇨🇦❤️🎶🥁🎻 taken in Boulder, Colorado by @hit_it.exe
