If you have one day to spare in Guangzhou, where would you go? I would go to Beijing Road Pedestrian Street 北京路

Be it experiencing spiritual zenness and admiring magnificent architecture at Dafo Temple 大佛寺, having some local rice rolls at Yinji Rice Noodle 银记肠粉店, venturing into random alley where locals live, indulging in local desserts at Ming Ji Desserts 明记甜品, or just people watching while snacking non-stop.

There are plenty to do (and walk for sure 😉)

735km clocked in on Day 2 & 3 of leg breaking KL-Kelantan-Terengganu-Sg Lembing-KL bike trip.

We tried riding on LPT2 but it was agonizingly slow. We unanimously agreed that trunk roads through plantations was a better idea.

Boy did we underestimated the distance! We barely made it to Sg Lembing before the sky turned full on dark mode. I also had my first road kill dashing through trunk road in the sunset 🫣

Taotaoju 陶陶居 was the only dim sum place I went to in Guangzhou. My personal favorites are the siew mai, har gao, radish cake, and red rice seafood roll. Go early (before the mall opens) to skip the queue and get 20% (I think) discounts off the menu before 12pm on weekdays.

My backlogs are stacking higher than I can count. Here is one throwback to Day 1 of leg breaking KL-Kelantan-Terengganu-Sg Lembing-KL bike trip with the usual gang and one new addition, @kia2loda. Pretty sure he was traumatised but more trips followed.

3D2N in Shenzhen was neither too short nor too long for us to try some Hakka and Hubei cuisine, street-style BBQ skewers and beers, and explore Shuiwen Village night market, Dafen Oil Painting Village, Huaqiangbei electronics street and Zhongshuge Book Store in between all the eating.

Pork lard on a pork pizza? Just take my money and gimme the pork pizza 🐷🍕

The Woodfire Club serves up some unorthodox fusion dishes that one could ever dreamt off. My personal favorites: Chu Yao Zhar Pizza and Charred Cabbage. Unlike the traditional pizza base, theirs was almost naan-like.

5 things to do in Chaozhou:
1) Explore morning market near Paifang Street - grab some Teochew snacks or braised goose from 溪口刘大鹅 (must try!)
2) Admire the old architecture and walk the Paifang street - different vibes during daytime and night, you can shop and have a taste of local eats here (read: touristy)
3) Watch the light show and bridge dissembling at Guang Ji Bridge - patience required
4) Watch Yingge Dance, a martial opera folks square dance
5) Take a stroll at Xi Hu Park - you can paddle on the lake or just enjoy the greenery

Covering over 1k km to downsouth, crossing 5 states in 3D2N. Am I mad or what?

Truthfully I still couldn't believe how my life changed on two wheels: traveling become more spontaneous, and I learned to be more present.

1) Braised goose - we bought from morning market near Paifang street (pic 1), and tried Liu Pu (pic 2-5)
2) Oyster omelette - we tried at Paifang street (pic 6-7), and tried random restaurant near Paifang street (vid 1, pic 8)
3) Sha cha beef noodle - random restaurant near Paifang street (vid 2)
4) Beef ball noodle - random roadside stall near Xi Hu lake (vid 3, pic 9)
5) Prawn carpaccio and seafood porridge - A Rong Stonepot Porridge (pic 10-11, vid 4)

Getting B Full license and my first bike was the beginning of a different lifestyle and unexpected friendships with people whom I wouldn't meet therwise. More importantly, it reprograms the way I perceive the world and frame my mind.
