Forest Road Murals by Adriana Jaroslavsky (@adrianajaros_), commissioned and produced by Hive Curates, forms part of Pocket Living’s (@pocketliving) Forest Road development in Walthamstow, designed by Gort Scott (@gortscott), won a RIBA (@ribalondon) London Award 2026 ✨

We commissioned 2 murals by the artist, created through craft-led processes with motifs reflecting the local heritage and celebrating the people, culture and creativity within the area of Waltham Forest.

The public-facing artwork Urban Echoes draws inspiration from modernism and the architectural elements of the building, while paying homage to William Morris. The artist led a community-focused workshop to develop colour pigments from locally sourced organic materials from nearby Lloyd Park, engaging local residents in the process of co-creating the mural.

Fluid Connections, artwork in the interior courtyard, was inspired by nearby Walthamstow Wetlands, referencing water as a vital force and reflecting on the diversity of wetlands which connect to the area with the surrounding boroughs.

Adriana Jaroslavsky also worked with the contractors to collect discarded bricks, metal, concrete and other site materials, so that they could be ground into pigments to inform the mural colour palette, further connecting to the language of the building.

Congratulations to all the teams recognised at this year’s awards 👏

Three new permanent public artworks commissioned by Hive Curates are now on view at Timber Square in Southwark, connecting the premium, highly sustainable, best-located workplace with culture and community.

Developed through a partnership between Hive Curates and Landsec (@landsecgroup), the commissions by Amelia Bowles (@amelia_bowles_), Clare Burnett (@clareeburnett) and Akmaral Khassen (@akmasya) reflect the site’s industrial heritage and the development’s evolving sustainable innovation.

☘️Evergreen by Amelia Bowles is composed of a sequence of perforated metal panels inspired by the repetition of the early printing presses once housed within the same building. The work creates a quiet connection between the industrial and the natural while responding to the rhythms of the working environment.

🔆Seedlinks by Clare Burnett is a group of three mosaic sculptures, fabricated on site, and made up of over 44,000 individually placed glass tiles – it represents Southwark’s layered histories and cultural landscape. Their forms reference the seeds of timbers once traded in the yard while nodding to the layered histories of the area, including the former IPC Printworks and a Roman mosaic discovered nearby.

🪾 The Unwilding by Akmaral Khassen stretches across multiple railway arches through a series of interconnected figurative and botanical forms made of timber panels. It reflects on timber’s history at the site, from its origins as an 18th-century timber yard to its use within the development today. At night, the backlit mural changes with the space, bringing the arches to life.

Together, the artworks integrate culture into the public realm through three site-responsive installations that create moments of interaction, reflection and discovery across Timber Square.

Congratulations to current outdoor sculpture artist, Clare Burnett, who has recently unveiled ‘Seedlinks, 2026.’ Commissioned by Hive Curates
for Landsec ‘Seedlinks’ is located on Timber Square in London's Bankside

Comprising three vibrant, hand-crafted mosaic sculptures the commission draws together different strands of Timber Square's past and present. Inspired by the forms of mahogany, pine and oak seeds, the works reflect the site's historic connections to of the timber industry and related trade routes during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, whilst also echoing the contemporary landscaping of Timber Square.

Burnett's artworks, Secret Sentinels, remain on view outdoors until 28 October.

What can we discover about a place by having open conversations, and listening to the sounds of nature that surround us?

As part of our Light Up Kilburn legacy programme, Hive Curates brought together artists Hanna Benihoud, Capri Jiang, Daphne Ting-Yu Chu and Shu Ang Yeh to meet with local people for a series of workshops involving collage, paper-making and sound sourcing.

🌙 @Hanna_benihoud_studio explored nighttime safety through collage and conversation, a continuation of her Girls of the Light project.

🌱 Capri Jiang (@capri_socialdesign) worked with SEN students from Emmanuel Church of England Primary School to turn recycled paper, food waste and wildflower seeds into something new.

🎧 Daphne Ting-Yu Chu (@artandtech.ting ) & Shu Ang Yeh (@annng.y) invited students from the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance to listen differently to Kilburn Grange Park, gathering sounds for a future listening trail.

Three workshops, three ways of experiencing Kilburn, and important conversations that will continue to inform the artists’ work and the future of Light Up Kilburn. Swipe to explore more of these workshops.

As the nights draw in, our experience of the city changes and I have been exploring this feeling through my project Girls Of The Light for several years.

This year I am really excited to be commissioned by @hivecurates to continue this work as part of the Light Up Kilburn project with @love.camden

Next week I will be hosting a collage workshop to hear from local women to inspire a future project. I can't wait. 🌙🌠🌌🌃

From Pretoria Road North to @shoreditchdesignweek , it is fantastic to see Hive Curates resident artist @mowcka_official is part of this year's @l_d_f_official showcase.

Sanctum of Renewal is open as part of the annual festival, with a work that was inspired by the Japanese concept of Yūgen - the idea of a mysterious beauty that exists beyond what is immediately visible. Made at our Pretoria Road studios where Mowcka works from, the display is now hosted at the @hartshoreditch hotel, where it's going to remain as a permanent installation in the hotel's restaurant, UBA.

Created from over 200 handcrafted wooden pieces, the work offers the viewer a moment of introspection, clarity and stillness. These images were captured of the installation in progress, created in our makers' yard.

Congratulations Mowcka!
Head to @l_d_f_official for more details on how to visit. Open now until 20th September and free to attend, then permanently part of @ubashoreditch . by @hivecurates

Timber Square and Open House Festival: A journey through art, architecture and Southwark’s industrial heritage.

We recently welcomed visitors for a guided tour of Timber Square’s permanent public art collection, curated and delivered by Hive Curates in partnership with @landsecgroup .

Across the site are works by three exceptional women artists, @amelia_bowles_ , @clareeburnett and @akmasya , who have each responded to a different aspect of the square’s unique history, creating pieces that draw on the area’s industrial roots while connecting with its sustainable future.

Visitors uncovered the stories embedded within Timber Square as the project architects, @bennettsassociates , shared their insights into the design evolution of the project. The tour explored each of the artworks in turn, revealing a variety of historical references behind them, from the rhythm of the former printing presses that would have been housed at the Print Building, to a nearby discovery of a Roman mosaic.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, to the artists Amelia, Clare and Akmaral for creating such thoughtful and distinctive works, to all the team at Landsec and to the fantastic guides at Bennetts Associates. by @hivecurates

@wearelondonmuseum has launched a search for emerging DJs to soundtrack its new late-night event series, inviting selectors from across the capital to join the inaugural Sound of London Collective.

Set to begin on 28 November at the museum's new home in Smithfield, Farringdon, the initiative will bring together 12 rising DJs from London's boroughs to provide the soundtrack as the venue transitions from daytime programming into evening events.

Applications are open until 14 August, with selected DJs offered a year-long contract running from November 2026 to November 2027. Collective members will receive £250 per performance and can expect to play "roughly one set per month".

Beyond paid performances, participants will receive professional headshots, three development sessions and dedicated "artist sessions", offering "space, time and budget" to connect and collaborate with fellow members of the collective.

Successful applicants will also take part in an introductory workshop led by renowned London reggae DJ, MC and promoter Don "Papa Face" Facey @don.facey, focusing on the city's longstanding soundsystem culture.

According to the museum, applications are open to DJs "who play across any and all music styles". Applicants must be aged 18 or over, reside in one of London's 33 boroughs, have the right to work in the UK, and demonstrate experience performing across a variety of live settings and audiences.

The programme has been developed in partnership with creative studio @hivecurates and London chicken shop chain @morleysuk, forming part of the museum's new late-night programme hosted in Our Time, a social space located within the historic Victorian General Market building.

Timber, printmaking and mosaic histories come together in Seedlinks, a new permanent commission by Clare Burnett (@clareeburnett) at Timber Square 🔆🌱

Seedlinks consists of 3 handmade sculptures inspired by the seeds of timbers, mahogany, oak and pine, traded in the same location in the 18th century.

They are embedded with 44,000 individually placed glass tiles in cyan, magenta and yellow - echoing the ink colours used by IPC Printworks to imprint their publications in the recently developed Print building at the same site. The sculptures’ mosaic surfaces reference the site’s layered material histories, including a Roman mosaic discovered nearby.

Southwark has long been associated with entertainment and performance; the sculptures are intended to create a theatrical setting within the square, allowing visitors to interact with the works and connect with the surroundings. As you move around, the colours and surfaces shift. The works invite a physical relationship, encouraging touch and interaction 👋

The sculptures were made by the artist on site in one of the railway arches adjacent to Timber Square, just 50 m away from the spot where they now stand!

We’re proud to announce a new partnership with the new @wearelondonmuseum !

Hive Curates joins London Museum as a creative partner, contributing to the museum’s evolving public programme in Our Time. This collaboration builds on our long-standing commitment to championing artists, communities and cultural identity across the city.

We’ve been secretly working behind the scenes on a very exciting project which involves Morley's Chicken @morleysuk; more on this will be announced this week.

We’re also honoured to be part of the museum’s inaugural season ‘London Tastes’, working closely with principal sponsor Sainsbury's, whose roots in London date back to its first store on Drury Lane over 150 years ago. The new museum opens on 28th November and is ambitious in vibe and programme, we’re excited to be a part of it.
