Hope this inspires and reminds others. As it does that for me too. You don’t have to be extraordinary. I am remembering my days in track and field on shot-putt and discus! It was something that gave me a strong sense of achievement and pride. I also got into weightlifting and training then. However, it wasn’t understood or appreciated by the community in those days, but now it’s much better. I used to get criticism and snarky comments because it seemed weird for an Indian girl…and actually for most girls. I would be told, and also thought— “This is such a masculine thing to do—look too muscular—guys will get intimidated by you—not appealing for marriage — won’t be beautiful.” I used to have a hard time finding shirts and Indian clothes that fit me because of my shoulders and being muscular. It made me conscious about my size and also doubtful about myself. I didn’t think of myself as beautiful, and somehow became ok with that, too. But I also worked harder because of these reasons.

We all hopefully grow out of such thoughts, but it still happens time to time, and I work at it.

Though we should always consider diff points of view to assess our options, in this case I continued with these sports to college…It aligned with my ideals of a Sikhni, as well. I am glad I did because it kept me healthy, and eventually I broke our school records that were set 25 yrs before. I was given the nick name of She-Ra for a while.

This picture was a reminder to push myself…to have the courage to do the uncommon, uncomfortable, or unconventional - but be thoughtful along the way. Even if things are not always clear, understood, feel a little scary, or don’t follow a standard path…still try. You don’t know what you might be able to achieve and experience on that journey. Plus paths have to made by someone or another! Might as well be by you at times. Maybe someone else may follow that path, too!

I guess I also became more accustomed to being on the outside…even though it’s not always fun or doesn’t always feel good.

We have one life to live. So we shd live it to the fullest. You don’t get to come back to do this again. #life #empowerment #womenempowerment by @hkbhatia_

Happy 250th birthday to our America, our home—- the land of the free, the home of the brave—- where opportunity, growth, and education are open for all in our founding principles—-irrespective by race, color, religion, financial status, gender, or identify.

‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed’

(my interpretation —Men is all people)

I am proud to be an American and will never forget that my parents left behind their family and community to give me and my siblings opportunity to be free, to learn, and to work hard to make something of ourselves—- my hands for my destiny (and Hukam)

The power was given to the people — let’s not forget!!!

No politics and no divisions- just respect!

Wishing you good celebrations with family-friends and continued pride for our country.

Friends I want to share the unexpected and very sad news. It’s taken me a week to get comfortable enough to post this. But I want to share this those might want to attend the funeral services can join !

Joe was a part of our every day life at the office! Every morning he would start with a huge bright smile and say Good Morning Sunshine—- the beginning of the week.. Happy Monday!

It’s hard to put the experiences and his passing on into words. The Sikh tradition has helped me in the last many years to see it as—- they passed on ( to the next thing). So they are gone from here ( on this side of the line) but not absolutely non existent.

He was so much a part of so many people’s (businesses) lives! So many people feel his loss.

My deepest condolensces to his Lynette and son Garet and his family… and the friends!

We sense him every morning and every day!

One of my heroes and fellow April 1st birthday human, Sardaar Fauja Singh, the iconic Marathon runner from Punjab’s Jalandhar, died at the age of 114, after he was hit by an unidentified vehicle while he was out for a walk on the Jalandhar-Pathankot highway on Monday afternoon.

For those who knew him and his family, I feel a loss with you. For those that don’t, he was one cool, humble, spiritual, and rare person. May love of Waheguru’s embrace and oneness keep him.

It’s so sad! I am not sure if we will see another like him.

He started running after his wife passed away in his mid 80s.

I treasurer the short time we got to meet and feel so in awe from being in his presence.

To the driver, you have interrupted and disrupted a rare human being from existence and taken him from humanity. by @hkbhatia_

Happy New Year!!! I took a couple days to step away from my life, being a bit of a kid, and doing something completely different to be inspired and disconnect even for a day. It does wonders! Felt like I could let 2024 go and welcome 2025! Thank you for being a part of my life and giving me reasons to smile and grow. Feel so grateful my family and friends.
