To say this week has been anything short of amazing would be an understatement. I had a blast at this year’s IHS 56 & IHCA Confrence. It was a pleasure to get to finally meet some of my personal French Horn icons, including @woolleykaty , @scottlegerhorn , and the legendary @rvlatkovic , whose masterclass I was fortunate enough to get to play on. I was also fortunate enough to be named a Semi-Finalst in the University Division at @ihcamerica , and to be named the winner of the Gretchen Snedeker Prize for my performance of Tim Martin’s Lament. A special thank you to @nataliebhorn , whose beautiful recording helped me study this piece! Also, special congratulations to @josh_wood16 for winning the Vincent DeRosa prize, and my Bama colleague and friend @tyler.winningham for being named an IHCA finalist! I also enjoyed a great week at the International Horn Symposium, starting off with being a member of the Univeristy of Alabama horn octet, who won this year’s IHS octet competition. Then, my friends @tyler.winningham , @luke_montgomery_cross , @inhor_nwetrust , and I received second place in the IHS Quartet competition! I was also privledged to have three of my arrangements played this week at IHS, including a brand new arrangement of Autumn Leaves for Horn Ensemble and solo horn that featured @pantoja_joshua , whose beautiful playing I’ve gotten to enjoy all week at the confrence! Last but not least, I’m happy to say I am the First Prize winner of the 2024 International Horn Society ( @international_horn_society ) Premier Solo Contest! Special thank you to @balu_musik , and Alpine Mouthpieces for the prizes! I couldn’t have had an amazing week like this without all of my horn amazing horn teachers throughout the years, so a very special thanks to Steve Warner, @julietteop64 , and Skip Snead! Now, after a very long week in Colorado, I’m ready to return home to my incredibly supportive wife @emilygracebruner , and my dogs and cat who I have missed very, very much. taken in Fort Collins, Colorado by @ihcamerica

I had a great time at the 2024 Southeast Horn Workshop this weekend! It was an honor to be named a finalist in the graduate solo competition, and to have one of my horn ensemble arrangements premiered at SEHW 2024! I thoroughly enjoyed getting to perform with the University of Alabama horn ensemble, and listening to the various recitals and masterclasses this weekend, especially those from our guest artists Richard Deane and Victoria Knudston (Victoria LaRay). Finally, special thanks to my Horn Professor, Skip Snead, who helped make all these opportunities possible and has taught me to always “play the music, not the horn.” by @ihcamerica
