Regular registration for the International Horn Competition of America closes on Wednesday, July 15.

In just a few weeks, competitors from across the United States and around the world will take the stage at Southeast Missouri State University for four days of world-class performance, feedback, networking, clinics, and competition.

Whether you’re a university student looking to challenge yourself or a professional ready to test your artistry against some of the finest horn players in the field, this is your opportunity.

This performance will take place within 3 seasons following the conclusion of IHCA ('27-'30), repertoire to be determined. Travel, lodging, and a stipend will also be provided, all in addition to the $4k first prize 💵.

It's been two years already!? We caught up with @kevincorno who continues to shine post-IHCA ✨ 🏆

Notably, he performed Schumann’s Konzertstück as a soloist with the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra 🇨🇴 premiered "Waiting," a work for Wagner tuba & orchestra by Juan Carlos Valencia Ramos, and received an Honorable Mention in the @international_horn_society Composition Contest for his piece "Bambuco" for solo horn.

As a teacher, he has had the honor of leading masterclasses such as the XI Horn Week in Funza, "Horn Dialogues" in Popayán, and the Horn Laboratory in Medellín with @hornsarahberlin

Jhon Kevin continues his role as Associate Principal Horn of the @filarmonibogota and looks forward to joining the @grafeneggcom in Austria this summer 🌲🇦🇹 He also has a studio album in pre-production, dedicated entirely to horn rep. by Colombian composers ⏺️

💬 We asked him; how has IHCA helped you grow as a horn player and a person?

"Winning the Professional Category at the 2024 IHCA & Board of Directors Prize was a definitive turning point in my career. Technically, the competition’s demands pushed me to achieve a level of precision and sonic maturity that only comes from preparing for such a high-caliber international stage. It provided the confidence necessary to embrace solo challenges and spearhead my own recording projects.

On a personal level, the IHCA connected me with a global community of exceptional musicians. It taught me that the horn is not just an orchestral instrument, but a powerful tool for cultural identity; this realization sparked my passion for documenting and composing music that highlights my Colombian roots.

Being recognized by the IHCA has granted me the platform and institutional backing to continue projecting my career toward European and Latin American stages with a clear sense of purpose."
