Highlight of @litfest_hk was definitely the @hkwips event where I was invited to give a speech. So honoured and so grateful to share the space with such incredible women. Here’s a snippet from the speech:

This year feels especially meaningful as Women in Publishing Society continues its long relationship with the Hong Kong International Literary Festival during its 25th anniversary, a connection shared since its foundation in 2000. To have sustained this partnership for so many years speaks to the strength of this society and its role within the literary life of the city.

I was struck by the shared thread between Alka Joshi, who wrote the foreword to Imprint 24, and my own work as an author. We both return, again and again, to women who are asked to remain small. Women who are told what is possible and what is not. And yet, they rise. Not always loudly. Not always triumphantly. But persistently. They rise through choice, through endurance, through quiet acts of resistance.

The women in this anthology are doing something similar. By writing. By submitting. By allowing their work to be read. They are shaping their own narratives rather than waiting for permission. They are expanding what can be said and who gets to say it. ♥️♥️♥️ by @hkwips

ATTENTION; photography walking tour with @yungjoyce !!

How do we capture moments? The expressions of children when they open blow out their birthday candles. A reunion of school friends at a simple but rare dinner gathering. A family stroll on a Sunday morning. Joyce Yung, author of Hong Kong in 100 Photos, will show us how to do all this on our mobile phones… so that we don’t miss another precious moment. This will be a walking tour in Wanchai — a vibrant district known for both its humble fishing village roots and contemporary revitalisation. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

ABOUT JOYCE
Based in Hong Kong, Visual Content Creator and Producer, Joyce Yung captures the city’s pulse through spontaneous, versatile photography that celebrates energy, emotion, and everyday beauty.
A Cornell University graduate who transitioned from finance to photography, Joyce brings a sharp eye and global perspective to every project. In 2016, she was named one of Shutterstock’s Top 100 Photographers From Around the World.
Joyce’s latest project, Hong Kong in 100 Photos, is a stunning visual memoir available across Hong Kong, the UK, Europe, the US, and Canada — a heartfelt love letter to the city’s vibrant and ever-changing spirit.
