May 2026

This is a ‘piebald deer’.
It is a whitetail deer, born with genetic mutations causing patches of white and brown fur. It affects less than 1% of the population and has some melanin, giving it brown patches, dark eyes and a brown nose.
They come with abnormalities, both physical and internal.
Bowed nose, shortened legs, curved spines and deformed hooves.
It is a rare sight and I was thrilled when it strolled across the road in an urban town just outside of Saint John NB 🇨🇦
I have never seen one; so, of course, I had to quickly snap a pic 🤗 I feel so blessed to have seen this!!
