At Thurgood Marshall Academy (@tmapchs_dc), Mr. Ramon Griffin is more than a high school teacher: He is a constant in his students’ lives.

Mr. Griffin has dedicated his life to the teaching and mentorship of students whose backgrounds look a lot like his own. Growing up on the east side of Detroit, he learned that while circumstances can be difficult, they don’t have to define your future.

His approach is rooted in a simple belief: Before students can succeed academically, they need to believe in themselves. 💪 This transformative approach to teaching gives his pupils the power to change the trajectory of their lives—and they often return to TMA to share their milestones with the teacher who helped make them possible.

In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, we're spotlighting Mr. Griffin's impact and his growth in motion story. Learn more about him at the link in our bio. by @hmhlearn

A thinking classroom is not a solo sport. ⚽️

Practice #2 of Peter Liljedahl’s "Building Thinking Classrooms" is about forming collaborative groups that are transparently random. For students, this alleviates social stress and allows for flexible thinking.

In HMH's #IntoMath, find the group logo before an activity to know when it's time for randomized groups.

Sometimes a simple scan is all it takes to uncover meaningful insights and begin building a stronger, more connected math system.

A 10-minute math review won’t replace a formal, in-depth curriculum and intervention review, but it can provide a valuable starting point. By taking a quick look at core curriculum, assessment, intervention, professional learning, and instructional coherence, administrators can identify strengths, uncover potential gaps, and prioritize next steps.

Get started when you visit the link in our bio.

10-minute math review

Body text: The purpose of this review is to help leaders get a quick, useful view of their math system.

In most cases, administrators can complete the first scan in about 10 minutes, then use the findings to determine where deeper review
is needed.
