Cult Cruise • A Rave on The Red River

Autumn, the greatest season. Orange leaves, groovy jackets, and the spirits return to greet the living. What better way to enjoy the season, than a rave on the river?

We invite the souls from the other side all aboard the Cult Cruise.

Join our Cult as we depart along the Red River from the Chuong Duong harbor from 4PM we will have vinyl sets, DJs, and rituals performed and entities over views of the epic Red River of Ha Noi.

With top notch soundsystem, 5 acts hailing from all over the globe, and an intimate crew with full bar on the boat, you get the gift of sunset and sounds as we pass iconic bridges, buildings, and temples along the riverside of this ancient city.

As the final two stages closed - we had hinted there would be another small surprise, however, we didn’t allude to any information about it. The two stages on which we had worked so hard and were above ground, was the main experience, and our schedule technically finished there. However, our team had been preparing a subterranean experience for those who still had energy as both stages and their program came to an end.

We programmed it like this for two reasons:
• firstly, the secret tunnel to the underground space was quite small, and therefore we didn’t want to overcrowd the unique dwelling. Even we had laid out bamboo carpets and asked guests to remove their shoes, as it was quite an intimate space, and we’d prefer not to overcrowd or over publicize this Easter egg treat at the end of long wild journey, to ensure it was more enjoyable for all.
• secondly, out of respect for another beautiful event which happens in a cave and is orchestrated by friends of ours - we didn’t want to lead with this concept or lead with this idea to be the reason people came to our event.
In general, we have always programmed and placed our event a healthy distance from other wonderful events in Vietnam, so has to allow success for everyone to thrive, in such a small intimate and meaningful scene.

That being said, the surprise was so much more worth it when we got to see the look on people’s faces when they had entered our secret space. Equipped with professional sound, dynamic lighting, and the hard work of our teams, and experiment residency artists visions, it was the perfect ending to what was already such a special, mind expanding weekend.

We gave space for many of the artists who followed us through this journey to play together b2b, and while we couldn’t see the sunrise, we had played well into it although being multiple feet underground.

In a way it was a great metaphor for how the scene operates when dynamics shift in the operations of an environment - artists gather and organize deeper underground, creating new worlds, pathways, and experiences often out of the light.

A stunning reflection on our Saturday experience.
Hosted at @sunmayretreathn • our team designed a sequenced three stage blend of live music, workshops, and a secret all night show for those who persisted through into the AM. Absolute blessings to the wonderful artists who performed through the weekend and our incredible healing workshops focused on revitalizing the mind and body. @outlandish.vn was made up of many alternative communities that don’t often find themselves all on one lineup - and even the bands were wondering before if it would all gel together - but a mix of experimental, hyperpop, funk, psych, electro, and techno sounds alongside ambient experiences allowed us all a window into other worlds that soothed our souls and blessed our brains.

We’d like to thank every artist who trusted our vision, traveled, performed, workshopped, setup, connected and collaborated to deliver the incredible experience that it was, and I think we all recall the way nature edged us closer together • and our dancers importantly for cruising through the journey with the best attitude of any crowd we’ve had!

It’s hard to find the right words to say, especially after 6 months since this unique boutique program, we had found ourselves 10 days away from our biggest and most beautiful Outlandish Festival - only for the venue to pull out due to new regulations and restrictions around their space.
Without that iconic Gam Troi Valley we didn’t feel it was fair to call the experience we were about to embark on outlandish.

With that being said, it was one of the most beautiful events we had ever done and for the 150 people who decided to follow us further we don’t think it will be an experience most people easily forget.

In no time we orchestrated a three stage event over two venues - and our most inspired program of kindred artists, workshops, and artists on board.

To those that followed us into the abyss - we appreciate so much the dedication and support. It wasn’t easy, smooth, or profitable for us to go the way we did - and yet we felt support every step of the way. The community came together - as we felt she shift happening and yet we truly believed in the purpose of our party. It isn’t to escape reality but instead to create a new one - and together we shaped an incredible new world, program and concept.

We couldn’t have done it without our unreal team and the eccentric collectives and artists who shared in our vision - even we had given the vision for others to lead - as we had such little time to make alternate realities, in a situation that was rapidly changing, we understood then that @outlandish.vn isn’t one venue, one crew, one party, but a common collective designing an environment of love, expression, safety and dedication in mutual harmony towards being an outsider dedicated deeply to crafting a home away from home - without judgement, without dictating how to be from any direction. Trust one another to create blissful state - and we need not much else than the music and the art to guide us through the night. A truly ecstatic experience we hardly could bring ourselves to put back into words for so long - with a sensation of not knowing how it will be interpreted by outside forces - we kept quiet - and now we are focused deeper to revive this spirit. taken in Lương Sơn, Hoà Bình by @hoabloom.vn

Our Outsider series has been re-born in a strange twist of circumstances - and to celebrate we’re having a pop up baby shower for our little Outsider gremlin

It might be easier to phrase that as the Outsider afterparty - but for us it’s a precious decompression of all the tracks and vibes of last weekend & the last 8 months of jet setting around the world , spreading the good word of @outlandish.vn.

Now we will make a musical mashup from the lovely residents of mirage & outlandish and honor the fact that we still were able to birth this new / old concept within a week and haphazardly create something new, so forgive the last minute beckoning to mirage and enter the realms of these gremlin selectors:

Outlandish weekend reveals its sonic and workshop curation over May Long Reunification weekend May 1-2-3 an hour from Hanoi, Vietnam.

A truly eclectic program curated for an otherworldly space - we are psyched to present a refined and unique soundtrack to your weekend, and the workshops in the spaces in between.

Introducing:
@mongtongband - Mong Tong (夢東) is a Taiwanese psychedelic music duo formed in 2017 by brothers Hom Yu and Jiun Chi. Based in Taipei, they are known for creating music that blends electronic, experimental, and psych-rock influences, heavily inspired by Southeast Asian folklore, mythology, and 1980s/90s Taiwanese supernatural media. @gurugurubrain

@olsvanger - dynamic producer and label owner of @tofistock - Based in Berlin, Portugal born Olsvanger is 1/2 of Babylon X —and a driving force of sonic psychedelic released across some of our fav imprints @r.a.n.d.muzik, @kalaharioystercult , and @craigieknowes

@darrenroachdj - UK born, and London/Cambodia based Darren Roach has been a vital member of the early tech house and a stalwart of the sounds progression to new highs, as the first producer to release on @gene_on_earth’s @limousine_dream

@chicaiza - Berlin based, Ecuadorean @the.childrenofthesunn and @kimchi_records cofounder extends his Vietnam explorations, and lends his expertise to our lineup after an insane set @miragehanoi last weekend.
