Hoboken HS Back Stage Crew

The students part of our backstage crew were busy at work today building pieces for the set of Animal Farm. Core skills are being worked on as students work together, problem solve and create something from scratch.

We are so excited to have students working with our alumni tech crew to learn how to use tools and build the world our actors live in.

Theater Arts with Ms. Simon at Hoboken HS

Over the past few weeks, the Hoboken High School theater students have been learning about different roles backstage, acting techniques, and character development. They have been expanding their theater vocabulary, creative thinking, and collaboration skills. The laughter and joy in the classroom has been infectious leading students to feel encouraged to express themselves to their fullest potential.

Life Skills & Vocational Skills at Hoboken HS

Ms. Sivo – Rising Redwings
Students continued developing independent living skills in the classroom mock apartment. Using visual checklists and hands-on practice, students worked on making beds, organizing belongings, cleaning, and maintaining their living space. These activities reinforce ELA, math, science, communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills while preparing students for greater independence at home, work, and in the community.

Ms. Corbett
Students completed their first unit, Rules and Laws, and prepared for their vocabulary assessment. In math, they began graphing functions and inequalities while strengthening multiplication fluency. Social Studies Skills included current events, fossil discoveries, changing leaves, and the history of the American flag. Students also helped establish a new fitness area in Room 108.

Mr. Mattson
Students continued exploring the baking process, with an emphasis on accurate measurement and Life Skills responsibilities. In English, students continued reading Feed and reviewing characters and plot. History lessons explored The Odyssey, The Lotus Eaters, and symbolism, while math instruction focused on algebra skills ranging from solving for variables to multi-step problems.

World Languages at Hoboken HS

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month: Puerto Rico, Culture & Bad Bunny

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, students are exploring the history, culture, identity, and music of Puerto Rico, including the cultural influence of Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny.

Through readings, videos, music, discussions, and debates, students are examining themes of identity, representation, cultural pride, and Latinx identity while connecting Puerto Rico’s past and present.

Students are also strengthening their Spanish reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills while discovering how music and popular culture can celebrate heritage, challenge stereotypes, and connect communities around the world.

PTLW Enginnering at Hoboken HS with Mr. Gomez

In Principles of Engineering, students applied teamwork and the Engineering Design Process to design, build, test, and improve newspaper shoes using limited materials.

In Introduction to Engineering Design, students designed and tested marshmallow catapults, refining their prototypes through multiple iterations. They will use their designs to explore precision and accuracy through testing and data analysis.

Math at Hoboken HS with Mrs. Perry

In Algebra 2, students reviewed linear equations before exploring piecewise functions and systems of equations. They are strengthening skills in graphing, function notation, substitution, elimination, and real-world problem solving.

In Precalculus, students reviewed essential algebra skills before moving into radicals, rational exponents, and complex numbers. These concepts will provide a foundation for upcoming work with polynomial and rational functions.

In Calculus, students reviewed key algebra and precalculus skills before beginning their study of limits. Through graphical and algebraic approaches, students are developing an understanding of limits in preparation for continuity and derivatives.

Students in Pre-AP Biology strengthened their scientific measurement skills through hands-on labs involving mass, volume, temperature, length, density, and dimensional analysis. They also designed scientific investigations by identifying variables and hypotheses, analyzing data, creating graphs and posters, and presenting their findings.

In AP Biology, students explored data analysis, statistics, chemistry, and biochemistry. Through hands-on labs, they calculated mean, standard deviation, error bars, and chi-square to determine statistical significance, applying these skills to experiments involving probability and living organisms.

Hoboken High School Announces the Class of 2027 Homecoming Court

Hoboken High School is proud to announce the Class of 2027 Homecoming Court!

Following nominations from the senior class, ten outstanding Redwings have been selected to represent the Class of 2027 during this year’s Homecoming celebration.

Final voting will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, October 6, on the Class of 2027 Google Classroom. Members of the Class of 2027 will cast their final votes to select this year’s Homecoming King and Queen.

The winners will be announced as part of Hoboken High School’s Homecoming festivities.

Congratulations to our court, and best of luck to all of our candidates!
