My studio here is cleaned up for the big Eldorado Studio Tour. What should I work on after the tour? More Weather portraits? Pet portraits? People portraits? Fantasy portraits? I've got so many plans for future artworks in that big flat file and the rolls of paper sitting on top of it. I do love my Arches Rives BFK heavy paper! taken in Eldorado at Santa Fe, New Mexico by @hofferh

#heroes #forgetfulness #Viking
Even heroic Vikings (early medieval Scandinavian people) need to stop and look back to see if they remembered to set anchor and bring the mead. Mead held a high status in Norse lore and was deeply tied to diplomacy, weddings, and funerals.
This fellow is available at Studio #20 this weekend! I just fell in love with his disheveled leg-wraps, and far away look. taken in Eldorado at Santa Fe, New Mexico by @hofferh

After a few stints of work in the Middle East and Africa, I cam to admire the vast knowledge and resilience of peoples inhabiting these places.

"The Bedouin Woman" is featured today in my advertisement for my studio in the Eldorado Studio Tour. She is available at the preview gallery.
The Preview Gallery opening is Friday September 18th from 5 to 7pm. Open the 19th and 20th, too. More info here: https://www.eldoradoarts.org/ taken in Eldorado at Santa Fe, New Mexico by @hofferh

I've felt the eagle spirit strong in Eldorado. The whole Galisteo basin is a rejuvenating place, with ever-changing vistas that get your endorphins going to beautiful hikes that remind you to breathe and be easy with yourself.

"Cloud Eagle Over Eldorado" is featured today in my advertisement for my studio in the Eldorado Studio Tour. The Preview Gallery opening is Friday September 18th from 5 to 7pm. More info here: https://www.eldoradoarts.org/ taken in Eldorado at Santa Fe, New Mexico by @hofferh

This handsome lad, "The High-Collared Man", caught my eye because his hair is obviously curly, yet he tried to slick it down into the flat center part of the 1910's period. This pone is available right now at the @artistic_license_gallery_

THE STORY:
Mr. Larry Davis is an excellent bladesmith, toy-maker, Grandfather, and so much more. His idea was to create a legacy portrait for his children that was more from the heart than his corporate job. His blacksmith shop is huge. completely outfitted, and I was charmed to learn the limestone farmhouse and shop are a continuation of his own family heritage. He is so tall, that he added height to the anvil stand. He explained what all of the tools do which helped me draw them accurately. The light is from the white hot steel he was shaping. Check out his work at

The opening video is amazing work, too. Kudos, Larry! taken in Eldorado at Santa Fe, New Mexico by @hofferh
