Sharing a bit of the journey that goes into creating these wall forms. Whether slab and compression or surface and slip application, experimentation has been key. Up next: firing, finalizing surface application, inlaying backlighting, and prepping for installation. These are the first 4 in a series of 26 wall buttons headed to Arizona for an installation. I think I’ll only do one Saguaro cactus…I had to make it at least once. Deep dives into landscapes and geologic formations in a different geography from Montana is a ton of fun, the horizon lines are dramatic.

Posting a story about my mess making last night motivated me to spend some time tidying up….but then I took a look around at this lived in space; the stacks, clusters and ephemera have a narrative much more interesting than a tidy space. This started as a shared studio, built out by the talented @applewoodstudiomt to be the start of his furniture building space. Over time, ceramic artists like @jared_m_gabriel @northridgeceramics @portable_culture used this space to transition, get a body of work made, or just needed some space to keep moving forward. A left behind pot, a tac in the wall…it’s a space that has a life of its own….
I think I’ll leave it alone and just clean up last nights mess. by @hoffmanartworks
