In Hawaii we were taught that Aloha means three things: hello, goodbye, and love. Well throughout my experiences in 4-H l have said “howdy” to many people that l am proud to call my friends. I have loved learning more about agriculture, and what it means to be an ambassador. Finally l have learned how to say goodbye to the program that has helped me become who l am today. Mahalo to my 4-H family and may we make the best better! by @hoffmann.trey

This is why we show -

For me, I am learning a very valuable life skill of DETERMINATION! This year has been a test of this life skill. My story to share , was after the cancellation of The Houston livestock show and rodeo , I had a choice to make as a first time cattle showman. Sell the calf or keep it for the State Fair of Texas. My determination was not just to win the ribbon, but to see if I could do it and continue to learn from this calf. Winning for me is about trying and learning from the many experiences along the way. I have learned through showing livestock how to stay determined to my goals.

For me, I am learning a very valuable life skill of RESPONSIBILITY! My mornings begin with this feed bucket. My livestock animals depend on me to feed and care for them twice a day and sometimes more . This involves early mornings and later evenings. I am also responsible for giving preventative medications , treating illnesses, providing clean water and cleaning facilities. No one makes me fulfill my responsibility to my livestock. I do it because I want to learn life skills and be a small part of agriculture.

As a livestock ambassador I will begin a week long look into #thisiswhyweshow ! Look at this picture - what do you see? I see over 100 years of agriculture being raised on my families ranch. I see the dirt below her feet and think of the memories made here and the many crops and animals raised on it. Just like dedication shown on this mama cows face , so is my dedication to her and the ground she stands on. I also see a bright future in the youthful calf.
