We've joined forces with @clementinaceramics_studio to give the humble light switch a little more personality! Our new range of wall switch cover plates combines handcrafted ceramics, precision-cut metal and 3D printing, bringing different materials and ways of making together in one small detail. Designed to fit neatly over existing switches without removing or replacing them, they're a little makeover for your walls, even if you're renting. The collection will launch as part of an exhibition and open studio at Clementina Ceramics, where you can get a closer look at the designs and the making behind them. Open to all to attend, no booking required ✨ πŸ“… Sat, 24 Oct 2026 πŸ• 11:00 – 13:00 πŸ“ 501 Tollgate Industrial Centre, 12 Ravenscraig Rd, Woodstock by @hoiploysa

Our workshop may be over, but there’s more to come! Join us this Saturday at @clementinaceramics_studio for the unveiling of our latest collaboration, where lighting meets ceramics, and the humble light switch gets a little more personality. πŸ“… Sat, 24 October 2026 πŸ•š 11:00 – 13:00 πŸ“ 501 Tollgate Industrial Centre, 12 Ravenscraig Rd, Woodstock See you there! by @hoiploysa
Let's collaborate! We’ve worked with HOI P’LOY on several projects, using their lighting components to create individual fittings that feel at home in each space. There’s something very satisfying about choosing the elements, playing with combinations and seeing it all come together. And their pendants and wall lights? Firm favourites, too. HOI P’LOY has become a trusted partner in bringing our ideas to life. It’s a pleasure to see a South African design company grow, keep creating and build something with such a distinct point of view. Here’s to local design and the people we make it with. #capetowninterior #capetowninteriors #capetowninteriordecor #capetowninteriordesign #capetowninteriordesigner #capetowninteriordecorator by @hoiploysa
A little behind the scenes of Switching Things Up. From the first drawings and sheets of clay to cast iron moulds and the tiny keyhole opening for Hoi P’loy’s light switches, here’s a glimpse into the making of this new collection of wall switch cover plates. Made by hand in Cape Town, this collaboration between @hoiploy and @clementinaceramics_studio explores how even the simplest everyday objects can be reimagined. The collection will be showcased as part of @designweeksouthafrica at Switching Things Up, an exhibition and open studio at Clementina Ceramics. Come have a look! Date: Saturday, 24 October 2026 Time: 11:00 - 13:00 Venue: ArtSoko Gallery 501 Tollgate Industrial Centre, 12 Ravenscraig Road, Woodstock, Cape Town by @hoiploysa
SALABIM (@salabimhome) brings its world of weighted pyramids and handbags to The Loading Bay in De Waterkant. The Cape Town design house reimagines humble, useful objects as collectible design pieces. This activation presents the collection in one space β€” sculptural weighted pyramids made from reclaimed handwoven Peruvian textiles, Karoo mohair and ostrich shin leather, alongside the pyramid handbag collection launched at RMB Latitudes. Each piece is one of one. Handwoven cloth never repeats, so every crop is unique and every pyramid handbag carries a laser-engraved serial number. The full collection will be available to view and purchase from 19 to 24 October. πŸ“ Paulines Green Point (@paulinescoffeect) at Goodman Gallery, and The Loading Bay (@loadingbay), De Waterkant πŸ—“οΈ Pauline’s Greenpoint @ Goodman Gallery Mon to Fri - 7 30am to 4pm Sat to Sun - 8am to 3pm The Loading Bay: Mon to Fri - 8am to 5pm Sat to Sun - 8am to 3pm On show from 19 to 26 Oct Open to the public. Clay shaped by hand. Metal precision-cut and joined. Objects printed layer by layer. These ways of making span centuries, each bringing its own character to the objects we live with. Lighting designers and manufacturers, Hoi P’loy (@hoiploysa), and Clementina Ceramics (@clementinaceramics_studio) bring these different approaches together in a new range of cover plates that give the humble light switch a little more personality. Some are handcrafted in clay, while others draw from ceramic forms and textures. Each one is built around Hoi P’loy’s custom-designed, 3D-printed internal components and made to fit neatly over existing wall switches, without removing or replacing them. β€˜The Shape of Us’ is explored through the crafting of different materials: ceramic, metal and 3D printing. Different processes yield different feels and finishes, but they all share one aim: making everyday objects worth noticing. The collection will be shown as part of an exhibition and open studio at Clementina Ceramics, offering a glimpse into the collaborative process and the meeting point of ceramics, lighting and contemporary South African product design. This is the first in a series of collaborations by @hoiploysa
