Starting to look back at my favorite shots from 2021, it is hard to rank them to do a top 10/15/20 whatever. So I plan to randomly post my favorites in no particular order. But I will start off with this one as one of my favorites just simply because it was taken on 1/1/2021. This old church is a favorite of mine to shoot and is located maybe 3 miles from my house. I just love this shot and is one that hangs in my house.

Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good. I had no intentions to shoot sunset while in Virginia Beach but our day played out to where I was driving by here close to sunset so I stopped. Some 30+ minutes later I had several shots I loved and a family who was ready to strangle me. 🤣

I often post in my stories some videos from my Appalachian safaris that all occur usually within 3 miles of my house. But for some reason I rarely post pictures from those outings. I love finding all of the wildlife in this area. Some are more elusive than others but it’s a fun hunt most evenings. My favorite has to be the bald eagles. I love their resurgence and the fact that I have a mating pair with a nest near me that return year after year. They generally don’t like me getting too close so any decent pictures I can get I will take like the one above.

The nice thing about starting a hike in the rain is that you usually get fabulous views and the usually crowded overlook to yourself for a good 15 minutes.

Foggy hikes on the AT are something special. While I love seeing the beautiful views from the AT, hiking in a thick fog just adds another element to the experience.
