Happy 1 week earthside, baby boy ✨🤍

Birth story —

I started having contractions Thursday afternoon and by 11pm we were at the hospital. I thought I’d have a quick labour like my mom, but I ended up being in active labour for around 12 hours.

When I started pushing, I wasn’t making progress and found out I wasn’t fully dilated on the right side. I was told to stop pushing, which was incredibly difficult, and I was completely exhausted and screaming the room down 😅.

Things became scary when baby’s heart rate dropped and there were traces of meconium. I was terrified and just wanted him here safely. I had an epidural in case intervention was needed, but thankfully his heart rate recovered and I was able to deliver without any intervention.

At 2:55pm Friday, our beautiful boy was finally born.

We later found out his cord was quite short and had been acting like a bungee cord, which explained some of the difficulties during labour.

I’m so grateful for the midwives, doctors and my beautiful partner who got me through it all. It was an incredibly intense and, at times, traumatic experience but I wouldn’t change a thing.🤍✨

Soon, I’ll meet the little boy I’ve loved for so long
without ever seeing his face.

I’ll hold you in my arms instead of my belly,
and somehow, the life I’ve known for these nine months
will become a memory.

So for now, I’m taking it all in.
The heaviness, the movements, the quiet moments,
the anticipation of wondering when.

It’s officially baby boys due month! Little man’s offical due day is September 22nd & I’m now 37 weeks which means he can come at anytime now. Here is some spam of the year so far 🫧🩵🪿

Got my first offical positive around 11 DPO (days past ovulation). Baby was very much planned. I got right into tracking my LH hormone & surge (luteinizing hormone which is a chemical in your pituitary gland that communicates with your body to ovulate/release your egg) I nerd out so hard on reproductive health so fascinating ✨🤍

Our first early anatomy scans. I remember the ultrasound tech took a guess of the gender and he ended up being right 🩵🧸

Some of his first kicks I could see. This was around 16-18 weeks I believe.

Entering the third trimester 🥹🧸

Still so proud of myself for completing two placement blocks pregnant. Truly I am so glad they are done 😂

& that’s a wrap! Finished off my last day of placement & what a beautiful placement it was. Providing health care in the streets & within the community. So different to a hospital setting and the kindness shown by the disadvantaged who wished me all the best as I now enter the final weeks of my pregnancy & who remembered that it was my last day doing clinics. You’ll be remembered 🫶🥹

To my precious baby boy, who has come on all my adventures this year with my placements/work. It’s now our time to rest and relax. We did it! I’m so proud of us! 🥳🩵 by @hollyfrosting

I can’t believe I will be entering into my third trimester next week. Taking time to enjoy these last few months before it’s 3 of us. Forever feeling so grateful that I’ve had such a blissful pregnancy so far as I know there are so many out there that aren’t as lucky. Thank you baby boy for allowing me to go about my life as normal. Continue to work and continue to finish my degree. You have been so good to me & I can’t wait to cuddle you in my arms soon 🩵🧸🩵 by @hollyfrosting
