I don’t like seeing leftover yarn just sitting around — I always try to turn it into something new.

After knitting Oh My Hood and the Cloudy Turtleneck, I had some Kremke Kid Cotton and Sandnes Garn Tynn Silk Mohair left. I added one more strand of grey Kremke Kid Cotton, and here it is: a cheerful, fluffy, wonderfully warm double-layered mohair hat!

Crochet bind-off used in the «Oh My Hood» pattern❤️❤️❤️

In the Oh My Hood pattern, I use this technique to join the live edging stitches to the edge of the face opening. It creates a neat decorative chain on the RS of the hood.

How to work it:
1) Insert the crochet hook into the foundation loop from which the corresponding edging stitch was picked up.
2) Use the hook to slip the live stitch off the left needle from right to left.
3) Catch the working yarn and pull it first through the slipped stitch, then through the foundation loop.
4) Repeat these steps with the next pair of loops.
5) When there are 2 loops on the hook, pull the new loop through the previous one.
6) Continue along the entire edging. Do not tighten the loops too much, so the edge remains elastic.

The Oh My Hood pattern is available on Ravelry.

Today I’m sharing another cast-on technique for a neat, stretchy sock cuff. If you find it useful, feel free to like and share it💛☺️

The German Twisted Cast-On is especially useful if you tend to cast on tightly. It helps keep the edge flexible and beautifully finished.

Follow steps:
1. Place the tail over your thumb and the working yarn over your index finger.
2. Hold the needle in your right hand and bring the tip under the yarn from below.
3. Move the needle towards your thumb, go under the thumb loop, then insert the needle into the loop.
4. Rotate your thumb to twist the loop.
5. Bring the needle towards your index finger and catch the working yarn.
6. Pull the yarn through the thumb loop and tighten the new stitch on the needle.
Repeat until you have cast on the required number of stitches.

What should you knit with mohair this autumn?

The Cloudy Turtleneck!

My version is size S, knitted with 5 skeins of @kremke_yarns Kid Cotton (color 15).

The pattern is available in 6 sizes, xs-xxl, and includes everything you need to knit your own Cloudy step by step: instructions, diagrams for every size, photo and video tutorials, and plenty of alternative yarn suggestions. The turtleneck is designed with 4–6 cm of positive ease.

Cloudy is incredibly soft, warm, and comfortable against the skin — perfect for wearing under a blazer or trench coat this autumn.

The knitting pattern is available on Ravelry (link in bio).

Autumn is here, and colder days are calling for something soft and warm on the needles 🍂

A little reminder about the Résille Shawl: its edges stay beautifully flat, and the simple yet striking stitch pattern looks stylish in any fluffy yarn - yak, alpaca, mohair, or cashmere.

Make it any size, from a small neckerchief to a cozy shawl to wrap around your shoulders.
