🍎🍂 NOW THIS FEELS LIKE FALL! 🍂🎃

Cooler temperatures, crisp apples, pumpkins everywhere, and a LONG WEEKEND ahead! This is what October in New England is all about!

🇺🇸 THREE-DAY COLUMBUS DAY WEEKEND? WE HOPE SO!

We're planning to be OPEN Saturday, Sunday AND Monday! Columbus Day is normally the ONLY Monday all year that we open the orchard, and we're hoping Mother Nature cooperates!

We're keeping a close eye on the forecast, but if the weather holds, we're looking forward to THREE FULL DAYS of apple picking, hot cider donuts, tractor rides, cider slushies, and wine! 🍩🚜🍷

☀️🍎 FINALLY! SUNSHINE ON THE WAY, APPLES & FALL FUN! 🍎☀️

After a few soggy weekends, the sun is GONNA COME OUT and the orchard is ready! 🙌🍂

🌧️💨 STILL CLOSED TODAY!

The nor’easter is still making its presence known, so all orchard activities remain closed today.
We hope everyone is staying safe and dry! ❤️

We're keeping an eye on the weather and looking forward to getting back to apple picking and all our fall activities as soon as this storm passes.

🍎🌧️ A NOR’EASTER? REALLY? ANOTHER RAINY WEEKEND?! 💨🍂

Well, Mother Nature has other plans for us this weekend! With the nor’easter rolling through, all farm activities will be CLOSED today, including apple picking, the Wine Barn and our donut trailer.

BUT THE FARM MARKET IS OPEN, AND WE’VE GOT DONUTS! 🍩

Our Route 12 market is fully stocked with fresh apples, cider, pumpkins, squash and all your favorite fall treats. We’re bringing the cider donuts to the market, too!

🍎 ARE WE WORRIED ABOUT THE APPLES?
Well, a nor’easter in the middle of apple season is certainly not great news! But we do have a little geography on our side. Our orchards face northwest, so they're somewhat sheltered from the strongest winds.
We also have standby generators at both the farm and the market, so even if the power goes out, we can keep working. And believe us, we're at it seven days a week this time of year!
We're optimistic that our orchards will weather the storm just fine, and we'll be back in full swing as soon as it passes. We've still got plenty of fall harvest season ahead of us!

🍂 STUCK INSIDE? LET'S MAKE SOMETHING GOOD OUT OF IT!

Start with a trip to the farm market, stock up on fresh apples and fall produce, and make the house smell AMAZING. Here are 10 cozy fall harvest ideas for a stormy day:

🍎 Classic homemade apple crisp

After all these rainy weekends, we decided it was time to update our sign! 😂 We used to measure how tall you were growing… now we're measuring how much rain we're getting!

We're keeping a close eye on the weather and crossing our fingers that we'll still be able to enjoy some fall fun at the orchard this weekend. 🤞🍂

But here's the bright side! Even if Mother Nature forces us to close the orchard activities, our Farm Market on Route 12 is FULLY STOCKED with all your fall favorites, and our staff is ready to see you!

And don't forget — we still have another MONTH of fall harvest ahead of us! 🍎🎃 There are plenty of beautiful fall days and crisp autumn weekends still to come. We just need this rain and wind to blow on through!

🍎 EXCITING NEWS — THE MACOUNS ARE IN! 🍎

For a lot of New England apple fans, this is the announcement they’ve been waiting for. Macouns are here! We’ve started picking them, they’re available at the Route 12 market now, and they are open for Pick-Your-Own right now!

And here’s a little orchard-insider tidbit: Macoun is pronounced “ma-COW-en.” 🐄🍎 Not “Mac-coon.” Now you can pick ’em and pronounce ’em like a local.

☀️ Saturday’s weather looks great! Sunday… well, we’re watching Sunday again. 🙄 If Sunday is your farm day, please check our page before you travel.

🍎 APPLE PICKING THIS WEEKEND

Autumncrisp — This is a premium apple! Our trees are young, loaded, and VERY easy to pick. Excellent for eating and baking.

Honeycrisp — This may be the last weekend for Pick-Your-Own Honeycrisp, so don’t wait!

Summerset — A very close relative of Honeycrisp. Crisp, red, great eating apple with excellent picking right now.

Gala — Sweet, easy eating and an easy choice for the lunchbox.

Macoun — THE classic New England eating apple. We’re just starting the harvest and expect to have them for another week or two.

Cortland — A great baking apple. Pie season is here!

McIntosh — Another New England classic. Great for eating and baking.

With the amount of rain predicted today, we’ve made the decision to close everything at our orchard location for the day. Even if we get a break in the rain, our farm parking lot will simply be too wet to safely drive on.

That means today at the farm:

BUT — we’re bringing some of the farm favorites to our Farm Market on Route 12!

🍐 YES, THE PEAR REALLY GREW INSIDE THE BOTTLE! 🍐

We just harvested one of the more unusual crops we grow here at the farm — our pears grown right inside glass bottles!

And it’s exactly how it sounds. Months ago, while the pears were still tiny, we carefully placed them inside the bottles while they were still growing on the tree. All summer long, the pears continued to grow and ripen — right inside the glass.

Now that they’ve been harvested, what happens next?

The bottles are headed to Westford Hill Distillers, where they’ll be filled with clear pear brandy, sealed up, and prepared for the holiday season.
No tricks. No squeezing a full-size pear through the neck of a bottle. We grow it in there!

A pretty neat combination of farming, patience, and Connecticut craftsmanship — and definitely one of the coolest things we harvest all year.
