GEEK GIRL landed on Netflix yesterday and it’s already Top Ten around the world, including the UK, US, Brazil, the Netherlands, France and Austria (if I’ve missed one PLEASE SEND ME A MESSAGE BECAUSE I WANT TO KNOW). (EDIT - top ten in FIFTY COUNTRIES on its debut day. 🤯 Whaaaat.)

This show was one we made in a little bubble, with the focus on inclusivity, warmth and KINDNESS. It was true on set, behind the scenes and at every stage of the process, and I’m blown away by the beautiful response we’ve had over the last 24 hours.

As Nick says - “Joy spreads, Harriet. It always does.”

Enormous gratitude also to the entire team, both in front of and behind the camera - including @zoeyrocha, @thelastsouthpaw, @thejeffnorton, @amytakahara, @agentkateshaw, @rebyvw @sameerasteward, @catfreem, Georgie Armour…. Just found the very first modelling polaroid I ever had taken - at (barely) fifteen years old. 🥹 I look at my little face and see all the fear and anxiety that nobody else saw; but I also see the next three decades, and where they would end up taking me. I see who they would turn me into.

I’m grateful to little Holly, for doing what scared her, and even more grateful for Harriet Manners. Creating her is what finally made me love myself. ❤️

This is the kind of book that reminds me how lucky I am to love reading—and to have access to stories like this.
The kind that catch you off guard, hold you close, and stay with you long after the final chapter.

I’ll be honest: I judged the cover. Cartoon-style usually means light, fluffy, maybe forgettable. And I don’t typically reach for anything “magical”—I want real people, real relationships, real emotion.

But oh, how wrong I was.

From the first chapter, I was hooked. What started as cautious curiosity turned into complete immersion. I couldn’t stop listening.

If you love the movie About Time, you’ll fall headfirst into this.
If you crave sharp, witty writing… if you adore stories about love—not just romantic love, but friendship, family, forgiveness—this one delivers, beautifully.

The time-loop concept is handled with elegance. It’s not about magic for spectacle—it’s about choice, grief, second chances, and what we do when we know the ending.
And somehow, Holly Smale makes it feel real. Every character, every moment, feels lived-in and true.

The pacing? Perfect.
It never drags. Every chapter matters. The emotional beats land exactly when they need to. It’s funny, then aching. Light, then devastating. Quiet, then raw.

The main character’s journey felt deeply personal. Her choices? I understood them. I would’ve made some of them too.

Smale tackles heavy themes—grief, identity, letting go—with remarkable grace. Nothing felt forced. Nothing felt overdone. Just honest, clear, human truth.

And the narration by Alix Dunmore was fantastic. Truly one of the best I’ve heard. She brought the emotion, wit, and timing to life in a way that made the story feel even more intimate.

By the end, I didn’t just like the book. I was grateful for it.
It reminded me why I read. Why stories matter.
Why sometimes, the most important things can only be understood when time folds in on itself.

If I had a time machine, I’d go back just to read this again for the first time.
