Restoring community standards in our beautiful Holsworthy ❤️

🌳

Litter left near this natural spring and bridge harms native animals who rely on it as a vital source of water.

If you see litter— even if it’s not yours— Please pick it up and dispose of it safely in a rubbish bin 🗑️

Beautiful day in Holsworthy for Saint George’s Day 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿⚔️

Who is Saint George and where does Saint George’s Cross come from?
“As an early Christian martyr, Saint George and the symbol of Saint George’s cross 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 is important to all Christian’s, in multiple Christian countries regions and cities, of which he is the Patron Saint. Depicting a striking Red Cross on a white field, Saint George’s cross has been widely used since the 10th century Christians crusades, which were formed in response to PROTECT CHRISTIANS who were being tortured and slaughtered by Islamic Muslims. To this day, Saint George’s cross remains a symbol of Christian strength, faith and triumph over persecution.”

Where was Saint George originally from?
“Like his Father, Saint George was born in Cappadocia, now a region in present-day Turkey, but at the time a part of the Roman Empire, where Greek was a widely spoken language. His Mother was from Lydda, in the Province of Syria, also a part of the Roman Empire at the time, and present-day Lod, Israel; Lydda would also be where Saint George was eventually tortured and executed.”

☦️ Martyrdom
“Saint George became a soldier in the Roman army of Cappadocia; Despite being a high ranking Roman soldier, in 303 AD, he was tortured and eventually executed by order of the Roman Emperor, for refusing to recant his Christian faith during the ‘Diocletianic’ or ‘Great Persecution’, which was the last and most severe persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire— he was believed to be around 28 years of age.

Why is Saint George’s cross the flag for the country of England?
“A soldier in life, Saint George is remembered as a MILITARY Saint, and Patron Saint of Soldiers; For centuries, England was known for their Christian faith AND military strength- therefore, we can see why Saint George became the countries favourite Saint— and why in 1348 AD, England secured and initially PAID for the privilege, of avowing Saint George’s cross as the countries NATIONAL flag— and what a privilege is remains.”
