I was a fit, full time Yoga teacher but my first big heartbreak lead me to gain weight. I lost some. I gained again. I lost some. After losing my dad and walking through the hardest season of my life, I’m choosing me. This time I’m getting my revenge body and rebuilding the woman I know I’m capable of being! 💪🏼❤️‍🩹

miss who I was before losing my Dad, Gramps, my Cat Raja, Uncle Ron, Uncle Reji, my neighbor Tony, multiple friends, both of my jobs, my home, and my relationship. The sweet, innocent, joyful girl that I used to be no longer exists.

Do you ever miss the old version of yourself? The one that existed before the pain, heartbreak and grief? 😭❤️‍🩹

In less than two years, I lost my Uncle Ron, my Gramps, my Dad, my Uncle Reji, my Fur Baby, my Jobs, my Relationship, my Home.. and the version of myself that existed before grief.

Life can change overnight.

Tell the people you love that you love them. Take the photo. Make the call. Forgive faster. Hold tighter.

None of us know what tomorrow holds, or how much time we have left. 🤍

Good Fathers are rare and I was lucky enough to have one for 34 years. He was the best Dad!! He used to call me his “favorite daughter” even though he only had one.😅 He was the kindest, most selfless, loving, good man. As one of my Uncles said, “I guess sometimes God plucks the best flowers first!” 😭💔

2025 began with foreshadowing I couldn’t yet understand. My dad was hospitalized Dec 31. Alex and I rang in the New Year in the city and met a girl whose dad had just died. Jan 1 I taught my NY yoga class, spent time with my bestie, & hung with her cat Doc whom we wished we could adopt. A few weeks later, my dad died unexpectedly. No goodbye.

Even the trip to his funeral felt marked when my flight attendant also lost her father to Glioblastoma. I was held together by love, especially from Uncle Reji and his family. Three weeks later, Uncle Reji died suddenly too. Before flying to Dallas, I met Panda the therapy llama at PDX, carrying grief that hadn’t settled yet. Watching my Aunt and cousins lose their husband and Dad was devastating, but I wasn’t alone. Small lights still appeared: Valentine’s Day, a false health scare, a Super Bowl party with Alex’s mom, and winning the big clock now above our fireplace.

In March my OR Family gathered, then my mom, brother and I traveled to India for my Dad’s memorial. In the midst of death, new life appeared. My cousin welcomed a baby and our campus car had kittens. Grief followed me home. Raja was diagnosed with lymphoma and within a week we had to let him go. April brought brunch my fam, Easter with Alex’s and finally adopting Doc Holiday.

In May, my bestie was diagnosed with cancer. We celebrated Mother’s Day, and Alex took me to CA & Disneyland for my birthday, revisiting my past, meeting my people, and letting go of his old car.

Summer gave me air: Book of Mormon live, the Renaissance Faire, movies, outdoor adventures, long days at Rooster Rock, our 2-year anniversary at “Kann” and the WA County Fair.

August flipped everything. I was laid off from my yoga job at Golds and we lost our gym membership and fit fam. But something new began: I made my first foodie reel at Foodieland. It brought creativity, healing, and was a way to honor my dad through my depression.

Hey Insta Fam, sorry it’s been so long! I wanted to share this because today especially I am so grateful to have had a companion/partner for the past year and a half almost and today is his birthday. I spent most of my adult life single or dating and only had one serious long term relationship prior to meeting him. I prided myself on being a “strong independent woman” but he has shown me how magical it is not to be alone. With all the madness going on in the world right now and the election coming up, I think we need this reminder more than ever. We are stronger together and we need each other and community more than ever. I hope and pray that we can unite as a country and world and that we will make the right choices in who we vote for. Did I mention I voted today? Don’t forget to send in your ballots too! Love you all. Bless up! 🤗🙏🏼💞
