After what feels like forever picking out my scheme for my custom chapter The Shards of the Imperium, I can finally show the world what I have come up with.

First of many squads completed. I really enjoyed the creative aspect of coming up with something to call my own, from the yellow and purple quarters, down to the marble weapons and shields with weathered copper trim, I hope you enjoy it.

THE BULWARK STANDS

Terminator number three for the Shards of the Imperium is complete!

For this guy, I wanted to refine my marble work and focus on my edge highlighting as it's undoubtedly one of my weakest areas. Every single line of the marble veining on the Thunder Hammer and Storm Shield was completely hand-painted using a size 00 brush with Steel Legion Drab and Corvus Black over a Corax White base. No airbrush tricks here—just a steady hand and a lot of patience!

To lean into their renegade, supply-starved lore, I heavily weathered the Screaming Bell bronze trim with a recess wash of Nihilakh Oxide to get that aged, corroded copper look next to the ancient stone texture.

Swipe through to see the close-ups on that shield work and the alternate quartered scheme angles!

SHARDS OF THE IMPERIUM: THE BULWARK STANDS 🏛️🟢

The second Assault Terminator for the Shards is officially complete!

I really wanted to push the boundaries of what I could achieve with a brush on this one. Every single line of the marble veining on the Thunder Hammer and Storm Shield was freehanded using a size 00 detail brush with Steel Legion Drab and Corvus Black over a Corax White base.

To sell the story of these loyal renegades surviving cut off from Imperial resupply, I weathered the Screaming Bell bronze trim with a heavy recess wash of Nihilakh Oxide. The aged, corroded copper look next to the ancient stone texture is exactly the vibe I wanted for this squad.

Swipe through to see the close-up on that weathered shield detailing!

How do you think the hand-painted marble turned out?

"We do not wait for orders to do our duty." ⚡⚔️

Assault Terminator Sergeant of the Shards of the Imperium is battle-ready. Once proud scions of the Imperial Fists line, these loyal renegades now scavenge for wargear across the dark frontiers, cut off from the Emperor's supply lines but unbroken in their resolve.

For this sergeant, the bulky, ancient armor bears the battle-scarred heraldry of a Chapter split from its past. Up close, his ancient lightning claws crackle with a highly volatile energy—a stark contrast to the cold, dark void they now call home.

The Forge is active once more, and the squad is beginning to assemble.

What do you think of the Shards' colors on the heavy armor plates?

Practise model complete.

Conclusion -

I like the colour scheme

Brushwork and brush control needs work, make more effort with highlights, not keen on this base design (will base before attaching marine next time)

Any other pointers, I am always happy to hear them, improvement is my goal.

Had a spare marine sitting on a shelf, and figured I would use him to practice new things, i like the colour scheme, unsure about the gold parts as it washes out against the yellow, and i definitely need to work on my brush control, especially the checkers.

Test model for my CQB wing. 1st attempt at quartered armour, checkers and lightning. A model of firsts if you will 😅

Joking aside, thoroughly enjoying this so far. I have a great community and I'm always active in my DM's so please feel free to join me on my journey from a beginner to a slightly less beginner 👀🤣
