This weekend marked one of the country’s finest antique shows, bringing together contemporary decorative arts, historical treasures, and museum-quality objects. What truly sets @e.hamptonantiquesdesignshow apart is its remarkable curation and the diversity of taste on display. There is genuinely something to captivate every collector.Beyond discovering exceptional pieces, the show is an endless source of inspiration. It’s a wonderful opportunity to speak with decorators, designers, and dealers about emerging trends, collecting insights, and, of course, to hear the occasional bit of wonderful gossip….There is always something new to learn. One of my favorite aspects is seeing how each dealer presents their booth. Every space feels like a beautifully finished room, each with its own distinct personality and point of view. Whether you leave with a treasured acquisition or simply a notebook full of ideas, it’s an event that should never be missed. As always, it was a pleasure to attend, and my sincere thanks to the @easthamptonartanddesigndays and the @easthamptonhistory for continuing to create such a special and inspiring event. by @homegardenctny

Over the weekend, @lossingmanor, @thegardenconservancy hosted their annual open day, welcoming visitors into one of the region’s most enchanting gardens. Though modest in size, the garden feels remarkably expansive. The main hedged garden is awash with salvias, gauras, and other pollinator-friendly plantings, creating a sea of soft purples and whites that sway gently in the breeze. Just beyond the garden walls, an equally impressive meadow unfolds, further blurring the boundary between cultivated garden and surrounding landscape. What Lossing Manor does so beautifully is demonstrate the power of restraint. Rather than relying on endless varieties, the garden is composed of just a handful of carefully chosen plants, repeated in generous sweeps that create rhythm, texture, and a wonderful sense of cohesion. It is a lesson in how thoughtful mass planting can achieve far more than complexity ever could.Above all, it is a garden alive with pollinators. The air hums with bees, butterflies drift from flower to flower, and every planting seems to serve a purpose. For those seeking inspiration for their own pollinator gardens, there are few better places to visit. A true reminder that sometimes the simplest plant palette can create the most extraordinary effect. by @homegardenctny

Over the weekend, @sleepycatfarm and @thegardenconservancy hosted one of the most anticipated open days of the season, and for good reason.Sleepy Cat is a garden unlike any other. Expansive yet intimate, it moves effortlessly through a variety of garden styles, techniques, and traditions, all while maintaining a remarkable sense of cohesion. One could call it a gardening wonderland, but perhaps more importantly, it is one of the finest places to educate oneself on the art and practice of gardening.Beyond the impeccably maintained borders and plantings lies a thoughtful curation of rare, unusual, and beautifully grown plants. No detail goes unnoticed at Sleepy Cat. Everywhere there is something to admire, study, or take inspiration from. Whether you garden on a grand scale or tend a modest plot, there is something here to carry home.If you’re fortunate, you’ll also have the opportunity to speak with Fred, the visionary behind the garden. Possessing both a highly selective eye and an extraordinary sense of place, Fred has created something far greater than a collection of plants. His generosity in sharing his knowledge is matched only by his aesthetic sensibility. He has created a true pleasure garden, one that encourages curiosity, inspires experimentation, and reminds visitors of the endless possibilities a garden can hold. From clipped hedges and garden rooms to streams, pavilions, and seemingly endless plants to discover, Sleepy Cat is a garden to visit in any season. It is a place that lingers in the imagination long after you’ve left. by @homegardenctny

A sneak peek inside the New York City apartment of designer, decorator, and consummate entertainer @carsonkressley.Carson’s home is a reflection of a life well lived. A thoughtful mix of modern comfort, personal collections, treasured photographs, and antiques gathered along the way. While many interiors strive to impress, this one succeeds in something far more difficult, it feels genuinely lived in.Entertaining is clearly at the heart of the apartment. Generous seating invites conversation, while a well-stocked library offers plenty to discover between cocktails and stories. More than an apartment, the space feels like a private clubhouse in the very best sense of the word.Though the palette leans heavily on greys, bronzes, and rich browns, nothing about the apartment feels dark or “heavy”. Instead, the colors create a sense of warmth and ease, setting the tone for a space that is both relaxed and welcoming. What makes Carson’s apartment so memorable isn’t simply the decoration, but the personality woven throughout. Every object seems to tell a story. Every photograph holds a memory. It is less an apartment than a treasure box filled with the chapters of Carson’s life.Perhaps that’s the real lesson to take away: the most successful homes are not those that follow trends, but those that reflect the people who live within them. by @homegardenctny

Over the weekend, @barbaraisrael_gardenantiques welcomed guests to her Katonah garden, where the seasonal moment of roses simply could not be ignored! Just as one rose reaches perfection another seems ready to take its place, creating that fleeting abundance gardeners spend the entire year waiting for.The garden is a wonderful example of how statuary and ornament can create a true sense of place. Inspired by English gardens, yet entirely at home in New York, it possesses that rare balance of looseness and structure that so many gardens strive for but few achieve. Paths wander, roses spill over their supports, and antique ornament appears just when you least expect it.Centered around an early nineteenth century farmhouse, the garden has evolved over decades. Barbara, one of the country’s foremost authorities on antique garden ornament, has created a landscape that feels collected rather than designed, lived in rather than installed. It gently rambles from one garden area to the next, revealing roses, specimen trees, and moments of quiet reflection along the way.More than a beautiful garden, it is an immensely generous one. Barbara encourages visitors not only to admire the roses but to stop and smell them, a reminder that gardens are meant to be experienced, not simply observed.A well spent afternoon and a reminder that some of the best gardens are not the grandest, but the ones that make you want to linger just a little longer. by @homegardenctny
