A year and a half ago, I stepped into the ring for my very first fight. I had never played a sport before boxing, and I had no idea how much my life was about to change.

I Milany ‘Honey Bee’ Moss rose to the #1 ranking at 60 pounds, and as I grew, so did the journey. I moved up to 65 pounds and earned the #1 spot there too, along with a 40% KO rate on BoxRec.

None of this happened overnight. It came from early mornings, hard rounds, discipline, sacrifice, tears, and choosing not to quit.

Before boxing, I spent a full year in the system, separated from my family and everyone I knew and loved. I was surrounded by unfamiliar faces and forced to adjust to a life I did not choose. That experience showed me how quickly life can change, but also how strong I could become.

Moving in with my dad gave me more than a new home, it gave us the chance to build the relationship we had been prevented from having. I had been forced to grow up without seeing him since I was 3 years old, through no choice of my own.

When we were finally reunited, we turned lost time into purpose. He believed in me, pushed me, protected my dream, and helped me discover a strength I never knew I had.

Above all, I thank God. Through every difficult season and every closed door, He was guiding my steps. He turned pain into purpose and gave me a future greater than I could have imagined.

I am happy and grateful, but I know this journey is only beginning. My story is proof that your beginning does not decide your ending. You do not need experience or a perfect situation..sometimes it takes faith, one person believing in you, and the courage to keep showing up.

If I can go from never playing a sport to earning #1 rankings in two weight classes in only a year and a half of competing, then you can chase what feels impossible too.

Hard work pays off. Faith pays off. Consistency pays off. Sometimes the life you thought you lost is only making room for the life God was preparing you to build. 🍯🐝💕 by @honeybeemilany

In less than two years of blood, sweat, tears and fighting my fears—we made it here. 🩸💦
A National Champion. 🏆. Respect to my opponents—real competitors who showed up and left everything in the ring. You pushed me, tested me, and brought the best out of me. That’s championship work. 🥊🤝
First, I give honor to God🙏🏽—because without faith there is no foundation.
To my father/coach @pickycash , thank you for seeing greatness in me before I ever saw it in myself, for pushing me past limits I didn’t know I could survive. 🥊
To my Oma and my aunt—thank you for the love, sacrifices, and support that helped make the road to Nationals possible. None of this happens without you. ❤️
I’m a product of my city. Where you have to learn fast or fall behind.

This one means a lot.
I came here focused, grateful, and ready for everything that came with the journey. Not everything was easy. Some people switched up, some doors felt like they were closing, but I never let that change my heart or my work.
I stayed true. I stayed focused. I stayed a fighter.

I’m proud to say I won gold 🥇and became a 3-time National Champion. I also got the stoppage, but nothing but respect to my opponents. They stepped in there, showed heart, and helped bring the best out of me.

Thank you to my Coach Dad for always supporting me, teaching me, guiding me, and believing in me through every high and low.

Thank you to Coach Will for being my home away from home and being there since one of my first hard sparring sessions that ended in tears with your daughter Mila. Those moments helped build me.

Thank you to Oma and Awima for helping make our way to Nationals possible.
Thank you to every sparring partner who sharpened me, pushed me, and gave me the rounds I needed to grow.

And even to the people who switched up, I still appreciate the lessons. Every part of this journey helped make me stronger.
This is bigger than a medal. This is proof that pressure can break a weak pipe or create a strong diamond 💎

It was such an honor to share the stage with some REAL PHILLY LEGENDS! 🙌🏽🔥

And to have a Philly icon like @beaniesigelsp already know my name without me even introducing myself? WOW! That moment meant more to me than words can explain! 🥹❤️

None of this was planned. I was completely caught off guard, but that’s what made it even more special!

Moments like these remind me that I’m doing something right and motivate me to keep going, working hard, and chasing my dreams. 🥊🐝

I just hope that somewhere out there, I inspired someone to believe in themselves and never give up.

Three years ago, I was separated from everyone I knew and loved.
For over a year, I lived in uncertainty
alone, afraid, not knowing if I would ever see family again,
not knowing who I could trust.
The world felt small, and the nights felt long.
Someone I was taught to fear
became the person who showed up for me,
protected me, and helped guide me forward.
In a time of darkness, I found light in an unexpected place.
Before living with my dad, I had never played a sport.
Nothing at all. So No head start.
Just a kid learning how to heal, believe, and dream again.
Boxing didn’t just teach me how to fight—
it taught me discipline, confidence, and belief in myself. After 2 years of training and less than 1 year of competition,
I stand #1 in the country 🇺🇸🍯🐝
This journey was long.
It tested my heart, my courage, and my faith.
But every challenge I faced, I overcame.

Let it be proof.
Proof that pain can turn into purpose.
Proof that belief is stronger than fear.
Proof that a kid with a dream and a fighting heart can rise all the way to the top.
If I can do it, so can you.
This is only the beginning.
