Words will always fall short when paying tribute on the anniversary of 9/11. We can’t stop time from passing but we can stop to reflect on the sacrifices made 25 years ago. #remember #911memorial #honoluluems by @honoluluems

THANKING CORE

On the frontlines to address Honolulu’s homeless crisis, is a dedicated team working under the City’s Emergency Services Department.

This group is known as CORE, which stands for Community Outreach Response and Engagement.

These devoted men and women work tirelessly to ensure those living on the streets have access to emergency medical care and are provided resources to get into shelters.

Our CORE teams are ready at a moment’s notice to help those in need.

Showing them our appreciation is a privilege.

On behalf of the City and County of Honolulu, we say mahalo. by @honoluluems

This weekend’s storm brought dangerous conditions to Hawaiʻi, including high winds, heavy rain and limited visibility, all of which Honolulu’s first responders worked through to keep our community safe.

When you choose to continue into hazardous conditions, you put yourself at risk—and that risk can extend to rescue personnel who may be called to help.

As we look back on this weekend’s response, we ask our community to make safety the priority when conditions turn dangerous.

HPD’s Department Operations Center continues to assist with storm recovery efforts, monitor road conditions, and coordinate traffic control as power outages affect communities across Oʻahu.

Motorists should expect delays in densely populated areas impacted by outages, including Waikīkī and parts of East Honolulu and Windward Oʻahu.

Major Clifford Ramson reminds motorists to keep these safety tips in mind while traveling:

🚦 Treat dark intersections as all-way stops. Always follow the directions of officers on scene. If no officer is present and the traffic signal is out, treat the intersection as an all-way stop.

🚗 Slow down and use your headlights. Streetlights and lighting in some tunnels may still be out. Reduce your speed and proceed with caution.

⚠️ Watch for roadway hazards. Be alert for debris, fallen trees, and downed power lines. Never approach or drive over a downed power line.

🤙 Drive with aloha. Please be patient, cautious, and considerate of other motorists as recovery efforts continue.

Summer Safety Series #8

#EMSResponds to many moped crashes throughout the year, and summertime is no different. 🚨

Wearing a helmet can be the difference between life and death. Even a small collision can cause a brain injury or trauma. 🧠

If you’re driving a moped, wear a helmet, go slow, pay attention and refrain from driving in the rain. 🏍️

Summer Safety Series #7: ʻEhukai Pillbox Trail

Despite being a shorter hike, this trail becomes muddy after rainfall 🌧️ and contains steep inclines and exposed tree roots.

Sturdy hiking shoes 🥾with adequate grip are required for this incline. Ropes are available for assistance. 🪢

Be aware of steep cliff slides and follow the pink trail markers tied along the trees. 🌳

Summer Safety Series #6: Spitting Caves & China Walls 🌊

🚨 These popular cliff jumping spots pose serious danger to inexperienced swimmers due to powerful surf, jagged rocks and unpredictable currents.

⚠️ Don’t swim or jump in or into hazardous conditions. Bring a cellphone for emergencies.

🌊 Dangeous surf can sweep you into open ocean and put your life at risk.

🤙🏽 Mahalo to our local tv networks for sharing our safety message.
