Sport, identity, color and everyday life all collide in Nikkolos Mohammed’s @honorablemohammed art. Movement is part of his process—moving around the work, closer, further. I created a diptych of airbrushed and carved relief prints to capture @laterkader calm mystique in contrast with his aggressive skate style. The work combines the visceral, intuitive traditions of African diaspora relief printing with the methodical, layered transitions found in Japanese print history. By merging these approaches, the piece reflects both the historical depth of the techniques and the complexity of Kader’s creative identity.

One of the works is available through a drawing through Adidas Confirmed.

Center the clay.

before the vessel, before the shape,
before the beauty—
The wheel spins. The clay resists.

We pray for rain—
for growth, for opportunity, for change.
Rain brings mud.

Mud slows you down.
Mud feels like the mess between where you are
and where you hoped to be.

Mud is material.
Mud is clay waiting for hands.
Mud is the beginning of every vessel

Because truth is not poured into a finished vessel.
Truth is shaped through process.

Focus- The Burning House

The icon of his identity—a symbol of passion for integration—has become a global veil of decency and practice. His journey, driven by an unwavering focus on excellence for his people, is an admirable one. But with every pursuit, comes doubt. When people have sacrificed for a process they believe leads to excellence for so long, is it possible to audit, reassess or alter that process?
“I fear I’m integrating my people into a burning house,” Dr. King expressed near the date of his soul’s transition.

Where do we stand in relation to the fire? Are we the firemen, working to put it out, or are we the water, attempting to douse the flames?

Is the Focus on the narrative itself, or on the ultimate result?

@honorablemohammed’s ‘Thespian’ for ‘GONE’ vividly portrays Al Freeman Jr. as Elijah Muhammad from Spike Lee’s ‘Malcolm X.’ Muhammad, a key figure in the Nation of Islam, influenced leaders like Malcolm X and Muhammad Ali. The cyanotype portraits, marked with “Thespian,” challenge the public’s confusion between Freeman and the actual Muhammad. This work explores themes of collective memory, raising crucial questions about identity, perception, and truth.
