Inspired by the American West, Eric Wilson challenges the narratives we’ve been told. Come explore a series of recent lithographs, including a new, collaborative effort, hot off the press! Join us at the opening reception for beverages, snacks, and a live lithography demonstration.

Eric Wilson is an artist, printmaker and educator based in Chicago IL. Working primarily in traditional lithography, his work also takes on three-dimensional forms. He is largely inspired by his time living in the Southwest. Wilson teaches printmaking at Harold Washington College and is the founder of T-Bar Ranch, a manufacturer of litho drawing materials.

“Yellow Rose” will coincide with @bridgeportartistcommunity Third Friday Artwalk. Follow them for info about other shows in the neighborhood!

𝗟𝗶𝘇 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗮𝗯𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗼𝗼𝗳𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁 are collaborative printers based in Chicago. They work with artists who like to draw. Using lithography, relief, etching, and screenprinting, they create affordable multiples on paper and clay.

Thank you again to Hoofprint Workshop @hoofprintchicago, Chicago-based print publishers and artists Liz Born and Gabe Hoare, for a fantastic artist talk at TAMIU!

Liz and Gabe shared a wide range of original prints from the many artists they have worked with and published over the years, along with examples of their own work. It was a great opportunity for our students to experience such a diverse collection of contemporary printmaking firsthand and hear directly about the artists, processes, and ideas behind the work.

Thank you, Liz and Gabe, for sharing your time, knowledge, and incredible collection with our students!

And while they’re in Laredo, you can also catch Hoofprint at Print Riot Laredo this Friday and Saturday at Casa Daphne @daphneartfdn!

ARTISTS TALK WITH HOOFPRINT THIS THURSDAY!

Students, we have a great visiting artist talk coming up this Thursday, September 3, from 10:30–11:30-ish in the Black Box Theater downstairs in the FPA Building.

Join us for a talk with artists Liz Born and Gabe Hoare, founders of Hoofprint, a collaborative printmaking studio based in Chicago. Founded in 2012, Hoofprint works collaboratively with artists to create prints and affordable multiples on paper and clay using lithography, relief, etching, screenprinting, and other processes.

Hoofprint's archive reflects an incredibly broad range of contemporary printmaking, with work engaging Latino culture and history, immigration, politics, labor, identity, feminism, activism, and social justice, alongside work that is irreverent, funny, strange, and deeply rooted in drawing and independent print culture. Their catalogue includes work by Eric J. Garcia, Nicole Marroquin, Chema Skandal, Atlan Arceo-Witzl, Jenny Schmid, Mony Nuñez (Mony Kaos), and many others.

Liz and Gabe will share selections from the Hoofprint archive and talk about their artistic practices, collaborative printing and publishing, and what it takes to build and sustain an independent print shop.

Free and open to the public. Come check it out!
